Totally off track, but does anyone know how to attach a Thule roof rack to a tent trailer roof?
Know anyone who could do it? ie: shop.

I had the guys at E&H switch up my 4 pin to a 7 pin yesterday. Done in under an hour and $70 less than North Shore RV quote.
The guys at E&H are great.

Agreed, E&H Hitch are fantastic.

As for yr tent trailer, concerned it is not structurally strong enuf to carry roof racks, if you bolt into the walls it is just sheet alumimum like your household rain gutters -- not a safe idea, bolts will just tear off when cornering at speed due to centrifugal forces. Can u instead run long metal angle braces alongside tent walls to bolt into the floor frame (assuming it is built on a sturdy trailer frame).

Be careful, trailers when unstable can flip a vehicle. Can you carry atop your delica instead of atop trailer.

Worriedly, Christine.

Actually
Even if they are tough enough which many are,
you might have a problem with the roof sagging.
The roof on trailers whether fiberglass or other
usually handle weight across the larger surface.
Using a rack can often disperse the weight on smaller
points causing it to flare out and sag in weird spots.

As a VW person and outdoorsie type, too often you
can see where people attached the racks and caused
deformations. (In VW's it was the fiberglass roofs/poptops)

Just a little food for thought.

I have seen trailers with them on, but they are probably done at the factory. I do have a thule and carrier on my Deli, I just want the extra space. My tent trailer lacks storage space, unlike my Boler which had more.

Do not worry, I will not MacGyver it.

Maybe I will add a basket to the rear bumper of the trailer if it is strong enough.

We have a sturdy Princess Auto basket for the hitch, capacity 500 pounds, often use for the group camping trips as we carry huge tarps, firewood, extra chairs, etc. You're welcome to come over and try it out on your veHickel. Basket also Makes a nice seat in the damp with the tailgate up, or a cooking platform. Christine.

Thanks, but thinking that wouldn't work on the van as I need to attach the trailer. Still, would like to know if I could add it to the rear of the trailer, or am I asking a quick death of the deli towing all that?

I think if you have a tent trailer, you can really enjoy your camping or picnic whenever you will go. Because most tent trailers are usually equipped with a heater, refrigerator, fresh water tank, waste tank, sink, and other features. Some of the smallest tent trailers can even be pulled by compact cars and motorcycles.

Are you thinking of carrying a boat on top of the tent trailer? If so, think about building removable racks that come up above the roof of the trailer from either end of the frame. That's what I did.
