Ooohh Almac, hurry up and visit us then you can see the Delica of Glenn of Vurv, who makes the wonderful centre consoles (like ours) etc. Glenn now has a rear overhead compartment just above the back door, meant to mount speakers etc, but I think would be great for all the overhead storage that one needs while camping/sleeping. Can't remember the price. He lives near us, up the hill from Princess Auto.

(Delica online id is Glenn; http://www.vurv.ca)

I think Jesse Farsang had a photo posted on when he first got his delica, he strapped 2 surfboards inside up against the roof. Later, he put the boards on their sides against the windows behind the drivers side.

I have contemplated using cargo straps tied across the grab bars, then make a rope hammock between those straps, and put clothing and pillows up there (ours is a L300 high roof).

Be interesting to see what other people have done.

Cheers, Christine.

Not much roof room on crystal lite models. But, as Christine mentioned, I made a roof shelf/speaker compartment for the back. My key mod to the interior was the console between the seats.

yes. i have seen your amazing work glenn.
i had the opportunity to see the tardis model in person.

however i was thinking about an overhead console for the front ceiling; between the 2 front seats. i occasionally see them in jeep cheokees, etc. they sometimes have compasses and stuff built in.

I know what you're talking about, Almac ~ You're talking about that overhead console that houses the four switches that turn over the four plasma drive interstellar rocket turbines that you really require to fulfil your wildest dreams. Sometimes I just switch on the A/C and let the fan wind up while I am waiting for that second click to engage the primary thermal drive. If I time it right then the turbo kicks in with the main fan as I begin to taxi to the launch way.

The Miss Lil' Bitchi. The little truck that does.

Falco.

Al, aftermarket roof consoles are a big thing in Aus for Patrol/Safari's and Landcruisers, so perhaps ask on the Delica club down under as to whether anyone has been able to fit one into their Delica?

To add to Jaz's observations ~ what about the ceiling consoles that are in the Dodge Caravans? Could one be stripped out of a Caravan and manipulated?
