Does anyone who has had the 2.5" exhaust mod done remember what was done about tying in to the flange? I took my van into a shop here in Kamloops, and they said they'd chop the current exhaust away from the flange and weld to it-- they said they don't have the flange parts. I know I saw some pics of someone who had their new exhaust running all the way into the flange, I'm guessing maybe they took the flange apart and reused existing parts? I think I remember it actually being 2.25 inch through the flange?

Apparently it's hard to get the right flange in 2.5" stainless for the Delica. I bought mine from Delicat who bought it from someone else. If it helps I could take photos.

So, to change from stock size the flange has to be replaced? (Makes sense!...)
I guess that's why most of the photos I've seen have involved the weld-on option!

The exhaust hole itself is only 2" in size (or maybe even 1.75"), so any modification to a 2.5" or 3" exhaust is going to necessitate a transition piece. The simplest way is to keep a 'good' flange from the exhaust you're removing and have the muffler shop weld from there.

So leave the flange alone, chop off the stock exhaust close to it and weld on?

Just get 2.25" pipe welded directly on the flange leading to the muffler and 2.25 or 2.5" out.

Putting on larger than 2.25" at the flange will still create a bottleneck at that junction.

Anytime you have large pipe into small pipe into large pipe there will be a bottleneck.

I found after 3 side exhausts that 2.25" direct from the flange back was perfect. I had it installed after I removed my crappy 2.5" install and there was zero difference.

I could use that as a venturi to draw in liquid smoke for when I'm flying the Deli in airshows...
