So, my inspiration for this project was, obviously, Delicat and his drawers. Although my project is not necessarily intended for camping purposes, there could be some functionality utilized for that purpose as well. My primary reason for this arrangement was I was tired of having things roll about in the back, especially groceries. Nothing worse than getting home and having the groceries spill out all over the ground soon as you open the back door!

Anyways, in order:

• -01 Something for behind the seats. Not a lot of room in a SWB Pajero, but still enough for everything to tumble over and roll about.
  -02 The basic construct. I won't bother people with the details, but suffice it to say I actually took my time with this project and am quite pleased with myself. I don't have a table saw, nor a planer, nor belt sander, nor even a garage. In my driveway, with my blue pickup for a garbage can.
  -03 I've bad-mouthed NAMPOS in the past (probably will continue to), but this part of our Ford is the best thing from it: we used it in the back of the Moon Machine and now it's going to have a place in Monty.
  -04 To keep the box from sliding around.
  -05 This was something I had to do afterwards. The top had square corners, but in order to get the whole unit to sit a bit farther back, I had to cut corners (as it were). Turns out, this makes it fit much better for the Superstore crates.
  -06 The Superstore crates. These have got to be about the handiest thing going. Our parents had milk crates - we got Superstore boxes!
  -07 The boxes for the box. Promo shot, I know.
  -08 Where the boxes go. Another promo shot, yes.
  -09 I agonized over latches, handles, straps, and then Lucienne came up with finger holes. She's comes up with all the really good ideas.
  -10 And this is what whole thing looks like. It does cover the jack storage in the starboard-aft wheelwell, but I'm hoping I don't have to access that too often. If I do, it's light enough to empty and then remove easily.

And that was my two-weekend project. It's a recycled kitchen table, half a sheet of 3/4" plywood, half a box of wood screws and some wood glue. As I mentioned earlier, I quite happy with this and the only thing I want to add is some felt to the corners that touch/rub against the corner of the cargo area.

Well done, looks great. Did you use glue while joining all the pieces? It would make a huge difference in the long run...

Yup! I used deck screws (probably didn't need to) and a bead of glue on every joint.

The final step was to stain the boxes and to put some carpet on the top (and around the edges where it will rub on the walls). Here's the finished product.
