This trip was made solo in the Deli last fall, leaving Kamloops on Oct 31, 2009
(No, I don't know these people, but be sure to scroll over there--------------------------------->) Taking pictures when I should be driving... The highest I've been in the van (and still on the pavement!) Arrived Nov. 1 in the afternoon, 1st stop: go biking! End of ride, Day 1 Set up Camp Happy:

Castle Valley as seen from Porcupine Rim trail:
The closest I have ever driven to the edge of a cliff...
The view from the drivers seat (nothin' but valley bottom- the ground under the van is long out of view... gotta love cab-overs!):

Plenty of high places to fall off of...
Jamie
...or ride off of...
The Kamloops biking gang. I'm not sure where I've filed away most of the actual riding pictures. Oh well, maybe I'll add them some other time...
My last night of the trip. Made it all the way from Moab to OK Falls, BC in one shot. Passed out in the van for a few hours before finishing the trip back to Kamloops in the morning.
I highly recommend Moab to anyone who is into anything outdoors. I know plenty of Delis have made the trip, I passed two of them at different times headed North in Oregon when I was heading down, as well as hearing from some of you who have been.Jamie

Re: Moab, Utah
Nice! Hopefully you can spend some time in the area, there's no shortage of things to see/do. I've been there twice for a total of just over two weeks worth of time and I've just scratched the surface. For you going there in August: make sure your A/C is working perfectly, and get up early, apparently daytime high temps of 45+ deg C is pretty normal!
(You do go Phishing a lot don't you?

Far out! Gorgeous shots!
So very jealous, Moab is on my very limited list of things I want to see in the US, but haven't yet.
How many hours driving one way do you think?

I think about 22hrs of "wheels rolling" time from the 'Loops. Probably a little less from Burnaby.

Re: Moab, Utah
This time around was 10 days total I think- basically 1.5 days travel each way, so 7 full days of Moab time! It was supposed to be two weeks, but I had abandoned my wife and 2 kids to go and was starting to feel a little guilty
so I headed home...

Re: Moab, Utah
Great shots - appreciate the posts. Have been into mountain biking since 1986 and always said "gotta to Moab one day".....that day is surely getting closer! PS - my Mom lives in OK falls....how many hours was the run from Moab to OK Falls?
Cheers,
Sean

Re: Moab, Utah
Great photos, brings back a lot of memories for me. I've done 2 trips to Moab for a total of 5 weeks. That is definitely a trip I want to do in the Delica with my kids in the next couple of years.

Moab --> OK Falls = 1 campsite stovetop espresso + 5 large gas station coffees + 4 red bulls + 1 "5-hour energy"jrman wrote: my Mom lives in OK falls....how many hours was the run from Moab to OK Falls?

I think about 19 hours? Things got a little hazy near the end...
