So I got a little too aggressive while trying to make it through a trail of which a portion challenged the abilities of my truck, I didn't make it through because of some casualties that met their demise while attempting said difficult portion. These innocent victims were the teeth of my ring gear in the front diff. This is what happens when you run 35" tires with a stock drivetrain and you have a heavy right foot, lol.

ouch. i guess the stock drivetrain can't handle everything we throw at it.

Good excuse to upgrade to the larger v6 front diff

Look at the pictures in the message #289.

Again, more of the math the engineers who designed the Delica took into account when recommending material specs to the production team.

I like the colour scheme of his L4.

The diff broke when I was at one section that I couldn't crawl through, hitting it at speed for the momentum wasn't enough either. The only way I could make it was at speed while maintaining full power, when the front wheels would leave the ground they would spin faster and the result when they got traction once again was the excessive torque that broke the diff, these vehicles do not have the power to break their parts under normal cicumstances even with 35s. There is almost always a reason for breaking parts on a vehicle like this, either abuse or poor installation = excessive wear. In my case if I had smaller tires I would probably have been fine, alternatively without turbo lag I could have modulated the power to lessen the impact at that time while still powering out when the front tires hit the ground again, with the turbo lag I needed to stay on boost the entire time.
By the way if anyone is interested in those tires on the russian van (simex extreme trekkers (centipedes)), some of the coolest tires i've seen, there is a company in Quebec that has a mold and sells a 32" copy of these tires. Otherwise importing them usually leads to you losing your tires as happened to me when I treid a few years ago :( The company in Quebec is called Techno Pneu, the tires are called techno Xcavator, you can get these with various ply ratings as well as with this stuff I want to try called green diamond, it's a carbide crystal of some sort that they put in the rubber before it's molded and it is supposed to grip ice really well as well as increase the tread life of your tire. Well they had it a few years ago at least I don't know if they still carry that as an option.

I don't have any wheelin pics, although I know quite a few of my friends do, but there is a pic I uploaded quite awhile ago to my profile on here.

What else have you guys broken while in the bush? I'm trying to compile a spare parts list for the weakest links so I can stock up.

You won't be swapping out a ring gear in the bush.

Most common driveline parts that snap in the bush and things to take with you :

driveshaft u-joints front & rear - mandatory
front cv axle shaft left/right - maybe while overlanding

JB Weld - repair cracks
coolant/water
gear oil
engine oil
and loads of other stuff or not. There's a thread somewhere about things to bring while offroading solo. If in a group of two or more vehicles, nothing is really needed except for fluids, air pump and common sense

What I've broken in the bush... transmission pan. put a hole clear through it, luckily no permanent transmission damage done before it could be replaced in the city.

What I NEARLY broke in the bush, an oil line, I was dragging a large tree branch that was caught up in there, I would never have known except that the person following me radioed me to let me know, I stopped and crawled under to disentangle it, could have been a lot worse if I hadn't found out about it and the branch hit a rock...

Of course I also bashed in my front license plate, pushed up the radiator that lives under the passenger side step, and bashed the main bash plate (as it enters the "scoop" up to the radiator) on a different trip (see this thread

In my old mercedes I tore off a mufler in the bush, and cracked some plastic skirting...
