Odessey battery price check

Post by brewskie »

I have been looking around for this battery recently. Contacted polar battery seeing as though this is the place most folks here get theirs. They quoted me $333.00 for the 1500......ouch. I was thinking it would be more like $260ish. Is this what people here are paying?

Cheers

I paid $295 at Polar for mine, +$5 enviro fees. Ask for the dual post (top and side) as they are cheaper for whatever reason?!?

If you don't do any winching or other heavy usage of one single battery, you get the best bang for your buck with the 1400 from Odyssey. Totally enough for a Delica and considerable cheaper too.

Cabela's sells marine AGM batteries, I'm not sure how marine cranking amps compares to cold cranking amps, but there big one (1525 marine cranking amps) is a group 30 battery, which is a large battery, and it is only $186.99 US if you cross the border, not sure what the canadian outlet in Winnipeg charges. Anyone know how marine cranking amps compare to cold cranking amps? Or maybe this AGM is not as good quality as the Oddesy? I don't know, but it may be worth looking into.

"marine cranking amps" are the same as "cranking amps" which is different from "cold cranking amps" (usually cranking amps is a much higher number than cold cranking amps as cranking amps are measured at 0c whereas cold cranking amps are measured at -18c)
I actually had marine batteries in my L300, but they also had the highest "cold cranking amps" of any battery I could find.

Ordered the 1500 directly from Odessey Canada for $235.00. With GST and shipping to Winnipeg it worked out to $280.00 and change. That's $50.00 cheaper than quoted here locally and from Polar. Not sure what the shipping would be for shipping to the coast, may be a slightly cheaper alternative.

I paid roughly 230ish over a year ago.

Polar, just like any other retailer tries to maximize their return on each dollar.

I'll go there this week with the quote and tell them to offer that cost to all delica.ca members otherwise I will recommend the members not to shop at Polar anymore (I have been recommending them to others for a long time).

Slapped in the 1500 today. Pretty easy install for a guy who is generally bad with a wrench. The van fired up way better with it. I'd recommend it to anyone who may think it is over their head as a modification. Good how to by northvanmatt as well.

Paid $235 from Odyssey Canada directly. With shipping to Winnipeg and tax it came out to about $280ish.
