This is a non-Mitsubishi question, so my feelings won't be hurt if it doesn't stay on here, but...
A friend of mine has a domestic 1993 Toyota T-100, standard transmission, that he has killed the engine on. He's wondering if he can source a JDM diesel engine (Hilux?) if his truck could be converted to a diesel engine. Any advice?

The answer would predominantly depend on what the mounting pattern is/was for a Hilux. Might be best to ask this question over on ivoac...

A really good friend of mine is installing a Toyota BJ60 turbo 3B diesel engine into his 1989 4 Runner with an over sized radiator . He claims it fits and there is information on IHATEMUD that helped him with research. Take a look.

I looked into doing this with the Hylux engine in to replace the blown 22-RE I had. You can do this conversion in a series 1 or 2 4Runner or pickup for certain. You would probably be able to do it for a T100 as well.
Just make certain you get the higher end Turbo Diesel for the Hylux, you don't want the normally aspirated one. I think it had an "II" at the end of the name. For the earlier vehicles, it is almost a direct swap, but you have to watch out for things like the starter motor, because the wheel is on the other side. I think the engine mounts were different to fix this, but other than that, it should be a direct drop in (and some wiring mess of course).
It was what I was originally looking at before I decided on getting my L400.

http://www.toyotadiesel.com/ is even better than ih8mud for toyota diesel specific chatter. Lots of USA dudes doing diesel swaps. IMO its not worth the money unless its for fun/accomplishment. Better off spending far less just to reair/replace the gasser engine. You have to burn a LOT of diesel to pay off the swap costs from a small bump in fuel ecconomy. The T100 is already underpowered with the 3.4gasser...most of the toyota diesels that would easily swap in would be worse. If you could ram a 1HDT in there that might be sweet...but again...$$$
