In L300 form, the Exceed and Super both had 7 seats (no 8 seat option)

The Super Exceed spec differed to the 'standard' spec Exceed in the following ways:

 High roof with Crystal Lite (Exceed was low roof or high roof with the option for Crystal Lite)
 Fake 'suede'/Alcantara type seat fabric with embroidered S/Exceed logos (NOT available for Exceed)
 Thicker/deeper carpet in a lighter shade of grey (NOT available for Exceed)
 Hot/Cool Box (optional on Exceed)
 Chrome front bull bar, side steps, passenger step and rear bar (optional on Exceed)
 Chrome wing mirror arms and mirror housings (optional on Exceed)
 Higher grade front stereo system (optional on Exceed)
 Rear Audio Stage stereo control slave unit with Karaoke function etc…(not sure if optional on Exceed??)
 Rear Audio Stage extra speakers mounted above the tailgate…(not sure if optional on Exceed??)
 Alloy wheels (optional on Exceed AND free ‘downgrade’ to steel wheels if requested on S/Exceed)
 Rubber scuff protectors/rubbing strips on top of wheel arches (next to driver/passenger seat) (optional on Exceed)
 Twin battery/winter pack (optional on Exceed)

This information is based on ’91 model year and after. The spec before this changed year to year (pre-90 models didn’t have the fake suede for example) and it is almost impossible to pin down an exact spec difference between model years let alone between different spec models and model years! :? :?

With SO many different options and permutations available, it is not unusual to find a higher spec Exceed than a S/Exceed, although the seat fabric and carpet will never be the same….

The other thing to consider is the user modified vehicles where an Exceed owner may have added chrome mirrors and bull bars from a written off S/Exceed etc….This confuses the issue even more when trying to identify spec differences, but the list above IS an accurate list of differences between a STANDARD Exceed and a STANDARD Super Exceed….
The Chamonix edition model was 'aimed' at people who pursue/follow/take part in winter sports. It started with the L300 and they continued it with the L400 although some of the 'extras' were lost along the way.

The name Chamonix is taken from the popular French Ski resort (hence the winter sports association)

Based on the 'lower spec' L300 GLX model, the L300 Chamonix came as standard in the following spec and unique parts:

 8 Seater only
 High or low roof (Crystal lite an option)
 Chrome bull bars, front steps and passenger step
 Chrome mirrors and mirror arms
 Unique Chamonix labelled bull bar cover ('Chamonix' text instead of 'Mitsubishi' text)
 Unique Chamonix 'double row' chromed rear bull bar
 Unique Chamonix aluminium sump guard/bash plate
 Unique Chamonix print hard wearing seat fabric with Chamonix logo embroidered
 Unique Chamonix print psychedelic 'head trip' hard wearing carpet
 Unique Chamonix hard wearing carpet 'over mats'
 Unique Chamonix side graphics in about 4 different styles & colours
 Twin dash pod (later models had triple)
 'Winter pack' as standard (twin batteries etc..) which was an option on other models....

You could have curtains, cool/hot box like other models, but these were just options as per normal....

You could also have some unique accessories like a special 'Chamonix' branded ladder, boot mounted ski rack, roof box, roof crate, roof mounted ski rack etc.....

I am sure there are other differences, but these are the main ones for the L300.....

The hard wearing seat fabric and MAD carpet style was designed to wear much better than normal and not show the dirt from people climbing in & out with snow/mud covered boots, dirty gear and wet clothes & feet.

It was a popular model in North Japan because of the amount of snow they get and the skiing culture that goes with it.

It was also popular with the lot in South Japan becuase they 'aspired' to the outdoor culture that the L300 was so good for and ultimately embodied in the Chamonix edition.

The Chamonix wasn't actually a 'Limited Edition' but more of a specification all on its own which was sold alongside the normal GLX, Exceed and Super Exceed models.....
Cheers!
