Hi,

How do you mean public? Its still around and follows a coop structure. They are still in operation and produce fuel out of the cowichan valley. THere are 2 pumps one in Nanaimo at the recycling exchange and a second off Allenby road in Duncan (behind Harpers) where there is a card lock at CPS. The Nanaimo branch is temporarily closed because the Exchange is "renovating" or something to that effect.

This year the Coop is struggling a bit because of losing the tax exempt status. Makes the price a lot higher. I know there was a recent AGM and talks about this but I am not so involved as I make my own fuel - I just have some friends in the Coop.

That would be shocking, do you know what they meant by going public?. I know they were setting up a pump in Nanaimo, but I've never used it. Their pricing structure was a bit off for the casual user who was running mainly on WVO. They wanted $100 membership fee, then $50/year and their biodiesel was $0.10-$0.20 more than pump diesel. I joined the Victoria Island co-op for a $100 refundable membership, no annual fee, and generally a cheaper price for the biodiesel.
