I know it's not the most extreme mod on here, but I thought I'd show the bike rack I picked up. I know there are a few other Delicas out there that have this same kind of bike rack...I heard that from the bike rack manufacturer themselves.

The rack is a North Shore Racks NSR-4 Bike rack (www.northshoreracks.com). I highly recommend it, as long as you've got a suspension fork on the front.

Throw some red flag tape over the seats so no one rearends the bikes.

Why cant you use a rigid fork on the rack?

The north shore bike racks are great, Ive never heard a complaint about them, but if your going over 50k away from home, you might want to put a bag or something over your brake disks, the diesel exhaust puts a good layer of hard to get off oil on them and makes it really tough to use on the first few runs, last year at crankworks i had to replace my pads on my bike after the trip from Victoria - Whistler, Might want to pull the EGR just to cut down the smoke in the exhaust. even if you dont see alot behind you, its coming out.

So far so good on people noticing the bikes on the back. I need to ride with someone that has a red seat

I tried it with my stock trials bike and the rigid fork on there just isn't the right shape to slip into the fork crown holder. Not a big deal though, since that bike is easy to pull the wheel(s) off of.

Good to know! I'll be sure to keep that in mind if we are going any decent distance with the bikes.

If you've been around bikes and hauling bikes on rear racks, you'll know that they get rearended a lot.

Happened to my buddy heading back from Whistler. The insurance adjuster said it's very common because people don't see the bikes when they are mounted vertically and bump into them.

It's not mandatory. I would just flag the rearmost seat just in case. Would piss me off if it happened to me. Other persons fault or not.

I love the north shore racks, I wish I could afford one. I'm hatching a plan to make one that holds 7 bikes (they do make a 6 bike one) so I can hual 7 bodies and 7 bikes with gear behind the rear bench.

Cool...must see pics of this project. Is it going to operate similar to the North Shore rack? I didn't want to be the main shuttle guy, so I went with the 4 bike model...plus it's cheaper than the 6 bike model too.

it's still a dream really but in the winter the shop will slow down I should be able to get the fabricator to help me out. oh and I'm not really looking to shullte with it just for doing road trips, like mt Washington every other weekend on veggie :)
