I have heard of people putting new oil or transmission fluid into their fuel and I was wondering about used engine oil. Is it safe to use filtered or centrifuged used engine oil as fuel? I imagine centrifuging would be ok but I'm wondering about filtering. Has anyone come across an opinion about this at all?

It's been done without problem for your truck, just ask BCdelica... Only problem is your home filters (not those in your truck) will get dirty/clogged pretty quickly. So it works but it's messy, that's what I understood. AT oil would work best...

I've used both blending.

I prefer ATF. Cleaner burning and not messy to deal with.

It's dirty business but a diesel engine runs so smoothly on 100% filtered used motor oil it almost like a gas engine. No smoke burning used oil also. Not only with it's viscosity but the fines of carbon will gunk up a stock diesel filter reportedly quite quickly. I only processed my collected UMO/WMO (?) at the end of my filtering system live, though the oil flowed through at a similar pace to WVO. And yes my final water filter in my old system did grunge up nicely running 120 liters of used motor oil through it.

ATF as pure mineral does make an ideal fuel, for a diesel engine, but not sure about the additives that are used in it may react in the combustion process.

So if I was to burn used motor oil do I have to install a system like a WVO system with a separate tank and line heaters and junctions into the fuel line by the IP or can I just fill up my diesel tank and run it from there (filtered obviously before filling the tank)?

You can mix both WVO and cleaned used motor oil with your dino diesel, many people do. Mixing ratio's vary, but going 50/50 is possible in the summer time. Would think high percentages of motor oil would increase the load on the injection pumps lift, and possibly shorten the life of the fuel filter. 60/40 in the summer, and 80/20 in the winter, but I'd not mix if the temperatures drop below freezing.

On a side note, this is extremely common in Thailand. Many people bag filter there used motor oil and add it to there next couple of diesel fills after the oil change. Though it should be noted, also, that seemingly no one in SE Asia ever seems to fill a vehicle completely. Been to many stations in Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand, where 4 wheeled vehicles are never filled all the way up (Dem Tongue in Thai). Even friends with great paying jobs and new trucks only ever get 500 B ($15 Cdn) at a time, which always makes for 2 or 3 fuel stops on a far away fishing trip. Only with a commercial truck fill do you see a pump with more then 1000 Baht on it!

Any driver here would likely have a heart attack if they had to pay for a fill in a full sized American truck..

Does it include synthetic oil and combined waste oil of any kind from garages ?

Anybody grab this? This is $650 bucks of fuel which you could blend, if you have a pump with a diesel or hydraulic filter mounted on it. Savings alone would pay for the a pump/filter simple setup.

A person could do a RUG blend if though so desire. As a petroleum chemist I can understand how a 70%WMO/30%RUG blend would been an acceptable fuel, but have no idea of the mechanical aspects for each and every specific vehicle. For example bio diesel if hard on old L300's as it slowly eats the fuel pump seals, so gas would also have similar, if slightly less, solvent properties.
