Has anyone experimented running their Delica on SVO without a fuel conversion during the warmer months?

Searching on a narrow topic still opens up a huge variety. I'd appreciate it if you could share what you have found to work best in the summer. Can the fuel % go as high as 50-50? Thanks.

Apparently 50/50 in summer and 30/70 in colder months. Zero in really cold temps.

I'd suggest you experiment by starting at 25% and going up to 50% in the warm month. As soon as it gets harder to start you know you've reached (exceeded) the limits.

In the winter it's either 0% or max 10% depending where you live. You can try up to 25% but I don't think your van will appreciate.

I disagree - 15% should be the max even in warm weather. Just because it starts ok does not mean you are not going to end up with problems from coked injectors, stuck rings, etc. And 15% or so is hardly worthwhile. Just spend the $899 on a 2T-SD60 kit, put it on yourself, and run 100% (after warmup on diesel for a few minutes). It's worth it. You'll get your money back quickly and then be saving big time.

I agree strongly with Ed. I would never buy a vehicle that has been run on WVO without preheating. Veg. oil is just too viscous to combust properly without heating it to the right temperature. All the proper research shows this. Although it may seem like it runs fine now, down the road it can cause catastrophic problems to the engine.

Why take the risk? To save a few bucks? To save the environment? The best environmental and economic advantage is to run the engines for their maximum lifespan on an environmentally friendly fuel like Biodiesel and/or preheated wvo. Think long term!

I hate to say it but I got carried away with my numbers. I'm usually an advocate of max. 25% even is summer's months.

It's just that my Safari came standard with a heated fuel filter , I'm alloyed to cheat!

And I have no problem with Ed being bias, I'm installing his veggie kits on both my Pajero and my Safari before the end of the summer...

Also agree, as it's just a matter of what ratio will the spray pattern from the injectors fail to atomize properly and how complete the resulting burn will be.

Not to say we haven't be adding upwards of 40% to the B20 we fill our truck with. But with the small deep fryer we have (literally one of the largest available but tiny next to the canola bathtubs they use in NA) and demand for our used rice oil, are mostly lucky if we can hold onto enough for a 10%-20% addition. We could convert the truck, but happily provide our relativity clean used oil to immigrant workers nearby.
