Tap & drill bit for bypass oil adapter available

I have a 24.5 mm drill bit and M26 x 1.5 tap available. I imported them both new (tap is British made) and they've been used only once. These are needed for fitting Amsoil dual bypass systems as well as the Frantz "sandwich" adapter, from what I can tell, to Delicas. In either case, best done by a qualified person with the right shop skills and equipment.

I'd offer to lend for free but I have no way of knowing they'd be properly used so I'm offering for sale. $50. firm.

Just curious, I find myself quickly outgrowing "most" Canadian Tire Mastercraft tools and upgrading to significantly higher quality (well, for me). But only after I am convinced there is better quality and performance to be had and benefited from (ie. dewalt 9 piece 18V cordless set best buy EVER), otherwise, wait for the sale and it becomes a dollar store!
I have a MC tap/die set (60-70 piece'ish) that sales out at $30-$40 for the whole set!
Is there that much quality to be had for "one" tap without handle.........
Note: I do very littel tap/die work, and maybe if done properly my cheaper set is adequate for now.

Is a high end tap/die set a valued upgrade to my tools for casual use? or is crappy tire the way to go for this?

That tap would not be available from crappy tire, it is rather large, therefore much harder to find. As with most specialized tools one must purchase through a supplier that does not have such a broad product range. So, who knows, the quality could be the same (hopefully it is better though, for that price), but supply demands a higher price.

Aklands doesn't carry them but they'll get one in for $140 plus taxes. This one's high quality, made in England by "TWT, UK", which is where I bought it from. Unless you need this size specifically to match Delica oil filter threads, then there'd be no point in adding it to your collection. I'm offering it because there was a lot of talk here a while ago about bypass oil filter systems etc. and some of those require matching to the Dellie threads size.

The drill bit I also bought off-shore. Nothing special about it; standard Asian quality... but in a size I couldn't find around here. It's the recommended drill size for the M26 x 1.5 tap.

BTW, I'm very happy with my Amsoil dual bypass system. Normally after an oil change, oil would be pitch black before I even got home. After a few weeks with this system the oil (synthetic) still appears quite clean, a slightly grey-ish colour on a paper towel.

Mastercraft tap and die set's only work on mild steel and aluminum. If you're doing a lot of steel they wear out pretty quick. For the price they'll do the job once or twice, but you're not going to set up a shop with tools like that. The taps and dies that I use range anywhere from $5 to $100 each, but the lifespan in aluminum is probably several hundred holes. Also, I've cut threads in material as hard as 40 Rc (although doing that or going harder really beats the poop outta your taps and dies) But there's no way you'd be able to cut that with a Mastercraft tap or die. I once had to thread eight 3/8" 4140 rods on both ends with a brand new Mastercraft die and I barely got the job done (alot of sweating, cramped hands and cursing). The die was toast at the end of it. With one of our shop dies you'd be able to spin it on with your fingers, they're that much harder/sharper. For just working on the car the Mastercraft set will do. But If you want something more long term you may want to just consider which fasteners sizes you're going to tap with the most and buy a few really good taps/dies. On a Delica probably 90% of the fasteners are between M3-M12, That's not too many taps to own and since they're common sizes you could probably buy one of each and the whole thing would probably be only about $60-$80. I can't see why it wouldn't work. I bought a 22 x 1.5 mm adapter (same size as listed on the quoted page) and it now fits the L400 perfectly.

Update Dec.12. These items sold to another Dellie owner about a month ago and I believe resold again after he used them. The Amsoil adapter is mild steel and the die is high strength so presumably this could go on indefinitely.
I makes me happy that it's of service to more folks than just myself and I hope it'll continue in that fashion.
