Crystsal Lite roof fix

Sorry if this topic has been discussed before, I didn't find anything in my search. I am planning to buy an L300 by next spring. I would like one with a Crystal Lite roof, however; I have seen a number of ads posted that state or show a shade or two not operating. Is this an easy fix? If this has been posted does anyone know in which post? Thanks all.

There WAS a great how-to at:
http://www.delica.ca/forum/sunshade-rep ... +shade+fix
Unfortunately the original author withdrew his post- there's still some links in there to other sites that have a how-to.
In a nutshell though, there is a small plastic clip in there that is usually the cause, if you can replace it with one you make yourself (those photos are still in the above mentioned post) it's an easy, but somewhat time consuming fix.

My L300 has one blind that is stuck half-open.
The previous owner told me it was due to a kink in the cable, and quickly took me through how to fix it.
I have not attempted the fix yet, but when I do I will attempt to document it so I can share my experience here.
It does not seem overly difficult to open the whole roof up to fix, however it does seem time-consuming. And care must be taken not to break any plastic components. Definitely not a job to try to rush through!!
Cheers
Nate

I have a L300 with CLR. One of my shades is stuck dead in the open position. I have the instructions for accessing the panels, etc. to fix it. The process a real PAIN.
I would not recommend CLR .... the potential hassle is not worth it.

The easiest fix is to cut the cables and attach two rare earth magnets on the end of the shade to open and close it by hand. Works perfect and is even better for camping.

Ahhh, you must not have a 3 1/2 yr old in her carseat behind you going, "Daaaaaad... the suuuuns in my EYESSSS!!!!!" while you are driving... I don't know what I'd do without that front seat power control!

True, but in this case I would shut the blinds all the time

Perfect timing for me as one of mine is broken. I'll take pics of my fix and post em.. If I can. As The front end of my van was a low rider I don't have the wire harnes for the front and will have to make one. If not, Earth magnets it is!!
JFW Chase, where in the front would the rear sunroof shade switch be?

In my ride ,the rear shade master control is located overhead,It only controls all close or all open as opossed to individual, but I use it constantly for the complaining kids....I wish there was a button to close the kids mouths instead of the shades!!

When I first received my ride off the boat half the shades did not work,it was an easy fix of simply putting back on the tracks. When I had the entire headliner removed for the roof rot repair from hell... I lubricated the cable mechanisms and the tracks and it worked much better!!I have some Pics and will post when I get home.
Cheers.
