Has anyone managed to find the right kn filter(air) for the l400, or did everyone just use the e-2871?
(if its here, i don't have the skills to search it out)

Thanks: Brad

No idea, but KN seem to have a bad name lately for letting to much dirt through......

ill take the lack of response as no one seems to know.

Kn part #e-2877, not 2871.

I ll be checking canada stock tomorrow.

...unless someone has a more local connection.

Thanks

just make sure you really want a K&N Filter?

if you do a lot of forestry roads (dusty roads) I would not go with a K&N personally. You could make a foam oil filter.

sorry dude...been wheelin this part of the world, and others for the past two decades and have never had a prob with kn's in atleast
10 different apps.

thanks for the advice anyway.

The biggest problem with kn's are the people that use them. Incorrect oiling(sometimes no oiling!)

I just ordered from a local calgary hot rod shop a K&N filter but the part # was E 2877 it looks a lot more like the factory filter with the sealing ring it isnt as large though but it's re useable and will flow WAY more air which means more power....thus hopefully better mileage....

Would be interesting to know your way of K&N filter maintenance. Any tips?

The first thing i learned was, dont clean ur filter unless u have "all day"(u look kinda goofy standing in ur driveway with ur wifes blow dryer in ur hand cause u have somewhere to be in an hour, but u still have to oil ur filter!)
If the filter is visibly dirty, it is easier to clean, because there is a noticeable differance when done.

use the supplied cleaner, it works great. Dont over oil, apply conservatively and let it sit for a half hour or so and the oiling will even it self out.(over oiled pretty badly my first time and it was a mess!)

Ever since it has worked out great!

Hope this helps.

Brad.
