So I am attempting my first DIY mechanic job on the Deli. Replace the brake pads and take the rotors to get machined. I was told by Crown Tech Auto that they were warped.
So my question is..is there a post that describes this procedure that any one has come across? If not, any one care to give me some beta. Is it straight forward once I get the tires off?
I am using that UK post with pics to tackle the pads but a little unsure of how things might go with the rotor removal. I am taking lots of pics throughout the process so I know how it all goes back on.

I can't say that I've done it on the Delica yet, however on most vehicles once the pads are off the rotors are pretty obvious, usually a few bolts that you can clearly see and they slide right off...

That should help, but my hub and disk bolts last year where brutally tough - was shocked I didn't break one. I shouldn't be too suprised, it isn't a north Americian vehicle....

Brutally tough would accurately describe the state of the nuts holding on the discs. I was unable to release them, so decided to tackle brake pads today and take the torch to the nuts another day. Looking at the discs they were in great shape and the warp must be minute because spinning them I could see no wobble. Drove a few km to "bed" them in. No more scraping sound . When I went use the factory jack and tools realized that they had never even been taken out of the compartment! Shiny and new!! My bench rear seatbelt still was in the factory roll. Amazing.

My axle jacks did not fit perfectly in the holes provided but it work. Felt bomber though after seeing the setup that guy in the UK had posted pictures of when he was doing the rotor removal. His stands were on a board on crushed rock and the angle looked very sketchy . I don't take any risk when it comes to that as a family friend was killed when his car crushed him a few years back .

On a lighter note, tried to rear hatch mod but found that my bolt holes would not match when I inverted and switched sides. Tried a few ways but could not manage a fit. Don't know if I was missing something...

All in all, a successful day for my first job on the Delica. Next on the list, Replace muffler, 2.5"?? .

Glad I'm not the only one that missed this mod right off the bat. My problem was with Kevin's description

and me not reading the convoluted instructions carefully enough. I guess knowing my struts from my mounts would help to.....god, how am I ever going to manage a WVO install?? At first I inverted the struts and the mount holes didn't quite match up properly, not only that, but the hatch wouldn't close anymore. So finally I put the right strut on the left side and visa versa. All it does is change the bottom mount from pivoting near the bottom bolt to pivoting near the top bolt. Doesn't look like it would make that much difference, but it does.

Ok, so if I understand correctly I am not flipping them so that the silver part of the rod is on the top. I am just moving the left to the right and vice versa.

The mod is awesome, my gate has been saggy and lame since I put my ladder on, now its high and stays up there. I love it. If my van gets any h igher I'll need a little strap to pull the gate down haha.

On a sad note, I snapped one of the bolts off tightening it. I wasn't really going that hard on it, so just be careful, it still works fine, but I'd rather there werer 2 obviously.

Yeah, don't flip the struts so that the black part is on the bottom which is how I tried to do it at first. The holes for the top mount won't match up with them bottom mount probably on purpose so you won't install the wrong:-)

So as far as the 20 Gal Jeep Wrangler tank for the WVO is concerned I think it will barely fit, but I'd have to re-route the exhaust system similar to what Josh did. That's a few hundred bucks easy, so I'm going to go back to BC Auto Wreckers and see if I can trade my 20 Gal tank for the 15 Gal version that Kevin used. It looks like a much nicer install. I was looking forward to the extra 5 Gal of WVO capacity in my version, but I don't want to have to spend several hundred more and squeeze everything in there. See as I am a rank amateur at anything automotive I'd better go with a tested setup. I think I'll spend this weekend placing the components using Josh's setup as a guide, then try to get a new tank next week for installing next weekend.

Hmmm, this might be off topic for Rotor Removal....

So when I went out today to try the hatch mod again I looked and realized that when I put them back on the van the last time I had switched sides! So it was done I had to laugh at myself. Being 5'6 in height it does not save me hitting my head, but it seems to stay up better with my ladder.
