Recently my gas pedal seems to have a delay in the release. I push in the pedal and it takes a few extra seconds to get back to its original position. I tightened up the cable which didnt really help. Has anyone come across this problem/have a solution?

yup.
i was thinking it could be the housing contracting with the cold, but not sure

bad cable?

Try to rev the motor from the injector pump (I assume it is a diesel (it should not have a gas pedal :-D ))

If the motor revs fine from the injector pump. bad throttle cable or needs lube or has water in it.

keep us posted

the problem is intermittent. when i rev it manuually it is fine. the cable releases slowly. probably build up/water in the housing.

take the cable out and run oil and graphite down it.

Personally I would replace it if you can get new. It is an important cable and maybe a sign of failure.
