I went to warm up my van this morning and had it running, in neutral with the parking break on. I had to get out to shut the rear gate as the light was on so for whatever reason I put it in park and got out. When I got back in and went to drive away the steering column was unlocked with the transmission stuck in park.

I tried pretty much any combination of applying the breaks, swearing, ignition on, van on, ignition off, swearing again while getting a case of the moooondays and finally just giving up and going inside where it's warm.

I got it into gear, so that problem has been solved.

The steering wheel still does not lock and I'm not at all familiar with what the mechanics are of it being locked. I'll go read around, if anyone has any thoughts or comments I'd love to hear them.
