New squeak from engine + rough starting; what to check?
Issue: As of last Sunday, my Deli is starting rough; doesn't need extended cranking, but the whole van bucks/shakes/generally runs rough for a few seconds until I give it a little throttle. Up until now, it's always started easily and smoother, and smoked less(white smoke for up to a couple minutes,...

Re: Having work done on your Delica? Use your eyes & ask q's
x2 on what Ronin39 said: Not to sound like the Devil's advocate but if you were take your vehicle for some work ( I know you are a backyard mechanic so you do most repairs yourself ) where would your #1 choice be? Appreciate the reasons not to point fingers, but I'm sure a lot of people would be ver...

Re: Old member, tough decisions - comparion between L300 & L400
Very interesting thread, thanks for all the details. I've been lusting after superselect, more power, and the LWB option, but see the turning radius of the L300 as a fairly major advantage... Saw your thread on ExPo, wondering if the concerns you had about the L400s have been alleviated after more t...

Re: Help! Starting after running out of fuel?
Well, it was indeed fuel. Started pretty easily on the third try without priming the pump. I put 9.5 litres in the jerrycan, got nearly all of it into the tank with my 'funnel' of bent plastic packaging; After that it needed another 63.7L until full to the cap. With a 75 litre total capacity that wo...

Re: Help! Starting after running out of fuel?
Ya, I was rather shocked; haven't kept close track but never had problems with ~50k with the light on before. It's driving me nuts not being sure if its fuel or something more serious, but I've got a site visit in 1/2 hour and can't get grubby til after that. If it is something else... have any serv...

Re: Help! Starting after running out of fuel?
Thanks for the replies; won't be able to try and get her going until end of the day.
consequence of not getting all the air=not starting? Or a cooked fuel pump?
What's the best way to get at the fuel pump? Haven't even looked for it before...

Help! Starting after running out of fuel?
I think I just managed to run out of diesel; warning light came on sunday night, and I figured I could get away with it until tonight... But, died in the road turning into work after suddenly losing power 3 blocks before. Given that my commute is about 5k, thats only ~15k from warning to nothing, wh...

Re: Subaru vs. Delica
The Outback/Forester were at the top of my list when I was looking for a vehicle, until I found the Delica. Coming from an old Dodge Caravan, it was just plain hard to picture giving up all that room, especially when going to a smaller vehicle wasn't going to save me that much on gas since I wanted ...

Re: Leaky front-end... wet carpets... aaaaggggghhhhh!
While buying the Delica I'm picking up tomorrow from surferboy, he told me that the driver side leak in his van turned out to be gaps around the nozzles for the windshield fluid, which ran down something-or-other to end up looking like a quarter panel leak; silicon fixed it.

So has anyone actually fitted an air locker/air lockers to a L300? All I find on google is aussie L400s... And these threads give the impression there is a maze of different possible incompatibilities to worry about...

Re: WVO in Victoria
Well, I voted that I would if there was somewhere to fill up... but right now 99% of my driving is done in 10-20 minute stints, and it just doesn't seem worth it to convert in order to use WVO for maybe 40% of my driving. When I have an actual commute, or when I have the time/money to go on trips, I...

Re: early '91 vs '92 Delica, important?
Hm, good to know about the shoulder belt mounting spots. I'm pretty sure it has pop-out windows in the rear, which I've been loathing for some godawful eternity in my caravan... TBH I was totally overwhelmed by all the crap I was trying to pay attention to; test drive/viewing I did last sunday was t...

early '91 vs '92 Delica, important?
I'm looking at a '91 Exceed Highroof, the only Delica I've found locally(Victoria) that A) isn't sold and B) the seller answers the phone! It has a good maintenance record, a bunch of extras(winch, hitch, roof rack) and a seller who's tolerating my unceasing flood of questions about everything I can...

Sweet, gyro park is 5 mins from my lair. Getting an inspection on a '91 exceed tomorrow, so with a bit of luck I'll be in a Deli in time! I'll be the one driving very, very slowly...
