Re: diesel additives

A bit of light reading: http://www.johnfjensen.com/Diesel_fuel_additive_test.pdf I certainly plan to stick in a bit of lubricating additives with my fuel, and from this study, looks like a wee dash of the ol' biodiesel is just the ticket! Interesting report. Thanks for posting this link Tony. Sound...

Re: Odometer Rollback

I can only conclude that somewhere along the line, it is common accepted practise for Delicas imported from Japan to have their odometers rolled back. Considering that the established average mileage for a vehicle is 20,000 kilometers per year, a 1994 vehicle would be expected to have 300,000 kilom...

Re: am i pushing my deli too hard?

Take the EGR out, drill a plate, insert plate with probe. No shavings, accurate readings. That's also what I did. Just fashioned a plate out of some approx. 3/8 plate, using the EGR plate as a template. Drilled hole in middle for probe to go through. I think the probe threads matched that of an air...

Re: Old member, tough decisions - comparion between L300 & L400

The Poptop made all the difference in the world when we pulled into a place to rest. Ya, having gone from a '76 Westy to the Delica, no pop-top is the one thing I really miss when camping. We didn't necessarily use the roomier "upstairs bedroom" that often but it was just great to be able...

Re: L400 headlights - can you modify them

If anyone is paying 1K for L400 lights, they're getting bent over. Customs lights can be made with a few hours of your time and some research. It's funny reading this just now. On the ferry recently, there was an L400 Spacegear with funny looking lights. Someone took the original stock head...

Re: Old member, tough decisions - comparion between L300 & L400

And what the heck does that post have anything to do with this thread ?!?! Hmm, point taken. Implied in "comparison" is that rationale for choosing one over the other can be put forward. Ok, so then my "comparison" is: The L400 is on that list but the L300 isn't. Anyway, my apol...

Ya, so I subscribe to this mailing list from jpctrade.com. Sometimes interesting and humourous...though I've fallen way behind on reading it. Today the one in my inbox had the interesting subject line of " JPCTRADE Newsletters [#131] : Which car breaks easily? " so I read it. There's an in...

Re: 35 - 40 MPG !!!

True. I meant that if my speedo reflects my true speed then my odo will reflect the true distance travelled. Interesting assumption, but rarely the case. From the factory most vehicles speedometers read high, however most odometers are accurate, if your bigger tires have brought your speedometer to...

Re: 35 - 40 MPG !!!

Haven't calibrated the speedo with a GPS, but it seems pretty close when I come across those "Your Speed is: " speed is irrelevant, how accurate is your odometer? True. I meant that if my speedo reflects my true speed then my odo will reflect the true distance travelled. Bigger tires than...

Re: 35 - 40 MPG !!!

people frequently lie about MPG on the Delica, the usual claim is 30-35...we all know that's wrong As I mentioned in another fuel economy thread herein, over about a 1500km trip this summer I averaged 30mpg (UK gallons. Ok, think I also rounded up from 29.8). Included much on logging roads, under 1...
