Re: ROLLCALL!!! - New and old members!
Hi! Alan, Surrey BC. '91 L300. Pretty much do everything with it: camping, carrying large article that won't fit in the Benz, pulling the 'ol boat now that i have installed a hitch on it. Loads of fun!

Re: Overheating question
Head gasket comes to mind. A leak test is in order and fast cuze if you don't fix this now, it'll come back and bite you up the a.. hard.
Oh, i'm head of maintenance for a fleet of refuelling trucks at YVR, all diesels of course. Take my advise.
Alan.

Hmmmm. We might have an opening in September. You think you can get a airport pass? That's what bugs the boss the most, the &*&^$ airport pass.

Vacuum pump oil line.
So last week i'm minding my own business at work when i get a phone call from wifey. "hey listen" says she, "i was about to turn off the motor at the bank and just before i did that, the oil light came on!". "Please tell me you shut the darn thing off right away" i plea...

Re: Diesel Moot
Well, we get our jet -a straight from the fuel farm at YVR so that stuff is from a lot of different sources, mostly from Edmonton and the USA. In a nutshell, every morning before a refueling unit is brought into service, be it a truck or a tanker trailer, samples have to be taken for quality insuran...

Re: Diesel Moot
I'd say about 1/8 of quart and i'm most likely overdoing it. A point i forgot to mention; jet-A contains a fair amount of sulfur, about 1000 ppm. Sulfur is a great lubricant which is why jet fuel is not that dry. But it is also why most modern american made diesel engine are so intolerant to it. In ...

Re: Diesel Moot
I'm aware of the different types of fuels as it is my trade. And i heard that soooooooo many times. We've use jet-a in all our refueling trucks at the airport for decades and in my Benz for quite a while, in my L300 for months. You can run a lot of different fuels in a diesel engine with the infamou...

Re: Roof rack, lunch table.
Nice rack! Can you post details on it? (Brand, cost etc)? Got it at Maximum Overdrive for $425 plus tx. Includes hardware and all 6 legs. I have no idea what brand, maybe a Chinese knockoff?!?! I can walk on it and i'm 215 lb, so it's quite sturdy. Made of steel but it's only about 38 kg. I used it...

Roof rack, lunch table.
As the tittle says. Rack was purchased at Maximum Overdrive in Richmond. Nice little family company, good prices. They even did the install (with a bit of our help) for free. Next is the lunch table, removable. Still needs a bit of work but you get the idea.
