EGTs high, Truck Sluggish

Well Shoot,
No wonder there wasn’t one on my rig. Sorry for the obfuscation and patient clarification!

Also- how come everyone else's engines are so clean?

Cold Weather Road Trip in an L300

Lools like I’m going to move my Deli to Anchorage. Trying to time it so I avoid the stupid cold weather enroute but it’s winter in the Yukon so it might be hit and miss. Anything particular to the Deli running it in colder temps (-18C/0F) that i should be aware of? I’ve lived and operated vehicles a...

1992 L300 (4D56) IP timing tool thread size

Thanks for the info Falco but nothing in the service manual has the size of the access hole in the ip. Tool part number and procedure but no size. Google-ing the part numvbr for the mitsu tool isn't much help. I need the adapter that goes into the ip for the dial indicator but am not sure if a gener...

1992 L300 (4D56) IP timing tool thread size

Going to check the IP timing on my Deli. Does anyone have the thread size for the access hole in the IP handy? Also, is the crush washer that goes in the access hole for the dial indicator something that NAPA or local auto parts store would have?

Thanks

Part numbers from VIN (English)

Here is another website to pull part numbers from. A little cleaner than the other site, and in English. Also works for other vehicles.

Espar heater

Check out heatso.com for Espar and Webasto air and coolant heaters. Good prices and a fair number of Sprinter guys have done business with them with great results. I'm putting the Webasto air heater in the back of my Sprinter for supplemental heat. There is a ton of install and operation notes over ...

Delica cold start problems, if not glow plugs then what else?

I ran out of time for a compression check on Sunday. It is on my list for next maintenance day. I have a fuel filter enroute and plan on checking the finger screen on the IP banjo fitting while I'm in there. It would be a guess related to the gp's but because I have seen relay/solenoids on aircraft ...

Delica cold start problems, if not glow plugs then what else?

Growler,
Thanks for the update. I'm headed to van to check out the solenoid signal line right now.

Just so I understand the system- On a manual gp setup there is no need for the 6v solenoid?

Edit- manual gp signal wire is connected to correct (inboard) relay...

Delica cold start problems, if not glow plugs then what else?

Perfect! That saves me a bunch of manual study. It would be nice if it was as simple as having the manual switch on the 6v solenoid. I hope to mess around with it tomorrow. Thanks for the info Now to dig out a schematic and see how the gp bypass should be wired... If anyone has a link to the bypass ...

Delica cold start problems, if not glow plugs then what else?

Here are some notes from my gp troubleshooting this summer: The year old plugs were the 6 volt style, even though the ECU has been bypassed. I replaced them with HKT 11 volt plugs. I took some measurements before removing the old plugs and the 6 volt plugs all ohmed out at about 1.3 ohms. My bus bar...

Delica cold start problems, if not glow plugs then what else?

Thanks Growler, this will be a good excuse to buy another tool. Based on changing the glowplugs it looks like access for a compression check will be pretty quick. While I am in there I am going to change the fuel filter and look at the finger screen just before the banjo fitting going to the IP. It ...

Delica cold start problems, if not glow plugs then what else?

My ’92 Starwagon hates the cold! I have gone through the obvious on the glow plug side of things and am about 90% convinced my problem is not with the glow plugs. (The van was converted to a manual GP setup before I purchased it) Some of the troubleshooting I have done on the GP’s includes- replacin...
