Re: '76 VW Van

Bowing out sure got my attention, but he is low on cash and rich on time, so we figured we would have a go at it. It's going to be a mid-winter project so there will be lots of time do to more research. I'll pass along all of the links to him, as well. Thanks for all of tips, links and advice.

Re: Princeton

Thanks for the tips, fellas. I'll be sure to try it out before I get out onto the back-roads. It'll be a nice gentle drive through the mountains looking for game, so nothing to crazy. I'll be sure to take some pics of her first off-road journey.

Princeton

Heading off to Princeton Friday afterwork and you know, I have never had my van in four-wheel=drive since I bought it. As a matter of fact, I never even checked to make sure it worked before I bought it!! Anyhow, I'll find a parch of dirt before I go and make sure I don't here any bad sounds are any...

Re: Is the wave dead to L400's

I seem to get more waves from other RHD's other than Deli's these days. Pajero's and Safari's, good on ya! Many waves from you folk as I trudge up Kingsway on my way home from work.

'76 VW Van

I know it aint no Deli, but I know that a few of you have some VW history in your past, and I need a little advice. My neighbour has '76 that needs a little help with the huge rust spots in the floor of his van and he was hoping that I could help him out. Now, I don't have too much experience with w...

a few litres of free oil

I have some left over veg oil that we used on the concrete forms for the foundation of a house we have been working on. It was going to be tossed out and being the waste-not sort of fellow that I am I decided to grab it hoping someone else could use it. It isn't much, about four to five litres I'm g...

Re: How my wife views the zombocalypse :)

Send me the pic (Min 200dpi) and I'll ake your t-shirts, Hoodie, or mouse pad. I can just imagine what t-shirt make by you would look like. You'll take one t-shirt, cut it half, grab another t-shirt and cut it in half and sew the two tops parts together so it has two necks and four arms, and then r...

Re: noisy air cleaner, i think

I took the bottom part of the air cleaner off and started the van up. The rattle was gone. I put the bottom part back in and the rattle came back. So, I am pretty sure that this piece is the culprit and that the gasket you see there is a little too worn causing the rattle sound. (of course, I could ...

Re: noisy air cleaner, i think

Thanks. I'll go have a look after the rain stops. I hope it is that simple of a fix. I'll still take a picture of the gasket, I'm curious if that would also help. Have also considered putting a rubber washer on the bottom of the filter, too. I'll let you know what happens.

Inside where the filter is, or on the outside? I gotta know where and how, and soon. This noise is driving me &%^#'ing Bonkers! Seriously, it's a real downer; every time I come to a red light or take my foot off the gas and coast I hear it. Drives me nuts!

Re: noisy air cleaner, i think

I wonder if the problem might be the rubber gasket between the two assemblies. It looked a little dry, flat and had a couple small, small cracks. Does anyone know where to get such a gasket? If I had a little more cushion between there, it might do the job. Anyhow, that's what my ears are telling me...

noisy air cleaner, i think

It makes a pretty loud rattle at idle. Rattle goes away around 1300 rpm. It's louder with the door closed. I took it in (from where I got it) and we replaced the bottom portion with another one out of another Delica. We thought that worked. But it came back the very next day. We thought it was a gon...

Re: Delicans with babies

I have a car seat in and it's no big deal. As for camping though, bring a playpen and dress them in a one piece snowsuit. This isn't just for warmth. Friend of our family went camping with their infant and they slept between sleeping bags. The baby somehow rolled to the side of the tent in the nigh...

Re: Delicans with babies

I got the car seat in. And yeah, it was no big deal. I just followed what Delicat posted and it was easy. Infant seat is now in the captains chair, so that means the bench can some out! Time to build!
