I did the same to my steps a couple months back just because i didn't use the steps & really the steps aren't that much protection since they can be bent pretty easy.

I did the panels and had the windshield resealed, now my deli doesn't leak. Hopefully it will work for you too.

Congrats.Mine is still across the water ready to be shipped.gets to Vancouver early June. In Japan all the vehicles there have that annoying 105km alarm. My prado has is, so did my Lj71. Just turn up the stereo and you won't hear it haha:>
