Re: Towing 4 Down

Check out the Fuel economy Survey (use search). If you get a diesel you are looking at 23 - 29 imperial Miles per gallon, which is 7.5 - 10.2 km/l, but power may be an issue for you at 87 hp. 2.4L Gas version has more power and is easier to find parts for(also easier to start in winter) but will mos...

Re: help trouble shoot a/c

In alberta, princess auto is the cheapest for refrigerant - 1299 a can or the like when its on sale. I had a similar problem on mine, but it was a pinhole in the condenser underneath. If you had the equipment or knew someone that did, it would be a good idea to run a vacuum on the system for a while...

Very reasonable price, and low input costs.

Re: Propane injection & Bypass oil filter

I would personally go the route of water/methanol injection. For a few hundred bucks, you are guaranteed lower Exhaust gas temps and increased power, as well as extremely low input costs. You can even use straight water in warm weather. Install is simple, and some models even come with their own tur...

Re: Well I bumped the 6'8" barrier

I have gone in the West Ed lot a number of times with no trouble. Those "6-8" barriers are just to give a buffer to the 7-2 areas. I have never come accross anything that I could hve ever damaged my vehicle with. Just go through gently so you don't scartch your paint.

Re: 2.4L Help/ Questions

I have an L300 with the 2.4, and yes, the filter is the same as a ram 50. As for the other stuff, you might want to put in fresh plugs and check out the air filter. There could be other issues but that requires someone with experience tuning it up I think. Too difficult to do over the net. Brake pad...

I stayed at the exact same "El Reposo" hotel in Guatimala (looking towards the Esso!)

I was on a Moto though!

Keep Safe!

    Re: Heater options

You want something like this, http://www.webastoshowroom.com/images/truck_trifold.pdf It is a bit pricey, but there are a few different types out there. They use Diesel to heat your coolant, and you can set them up with a timer etc for warm starts on cold mornings, or to keep you warm inside for som...

OK, I have read this through and I am interested to get clarification TLGF, I also have a gasser, but it is in an L300 (2.4). Is yours the 3.0 V6 or the 2.4 I4?? You say you can cruise at 160kmph!!!!! Mine can't do that! Maybe down a steep hill. Mine also burns an awful lot of fuel. I realize my eng...

A few thoughts from Northern AB: First, there is a good chance you need to rebuild your Alternator. (the light for the Trans and Batt are often on the same system and may come on together) if the light goes on again, and your lights are dimming, check the voltage on the battery while the unit is run...

    Re: A can of worms

Interesting. I have owned a Hilux, but not the cheezzy kind with the disposable 2LT, no, I had the 3L (2.8l) NA and it was a very reliable unit. Gutless though, and not horribly economic on fuel. I would hazard a guess that it could replace the existing 2.5 DSM diesel, but you would hardly notice th...

    Re: Central Locks, continuously locking?

Usually this is due to a bad connection on the door. Note that the door has contacts on the leading edge of it, and also that it never locks unless it is fully closed. Try cleaning the contacts, it may help.

I just picked up my 92 exceed gasser from the rail yard. White with the tinted windows, looks like an Imperial Storm Trooper on wheels. 2.4 with the Auto (for the wife) Not as much power as I had hoped. (I have driven a diesel version and this seems pretty simmilar). I think there may be a problem w...
