1995 L400 for sale

Selling this 1995 L400. Has lots of cool features, but has frame rust in the usual places, which needs to be repaired. Purchased in 2010 with 104'000km, currently has 257'841km. Im the only owner since importation. I have done most of the maintenance on the vehicle, the rest by professional mechanic...

Re: Rust never sleeps.....

1995 - 290,000km

the engine has an oil bypass filter on it and regular oil lab tests since I imported it at 100,000km - so it was babied. and the tranny got proper full fluid changes.

Rust never sleeps.....

Im embarrassed I caught this too late - but here we are. I had this van imported in 2010 and had a lot of good times... Ive got frame rust in several places - the one picture being by far the worst. Ive found a local welding shop that is able to do frame repairs, but I doubt whether its worth it. Th...

Repairing Bad Roof Rust with Bondo

Maybe this will be useful for anyone with a similar problem or is hesitant to do body work. This was my first time doing rust/body repairs. It was straightforward, its a very forgiving process. Its not perfect, but itll stop the rust, so good enough for the girls I go with!

Roof Rust

I regret letting this go on for so long - but that aside - what am I going to find under this rust if I start grinding. Am I opening a can of worms? I suspect it has to do with components related to the moonroof?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Re: mystery coolant loss

I recently was loosing coolant as well. It was a little bit difficult to diagnose because it was a crack in the expansion tank, above the "min" line, but below the "max" line. What this resulted in was when engine was cold, and the coolant was unexpanded, it sat below the min lin...

Stainless Steel Brake Caliper Pistons

Yeah the idea is to avoid ever having the calipers seize up and needing replacement. Ive had to replace the whole caliper assembly and pads due to corrosion on the pistons themselves. Plus the cost of a tow truck. So it starts to look like $40-50 per piston wouldnt be such a bad idea. I dont know wh...

Stainless Steel Brake Caliper Pistons

Sorry, I was talking about L400, but if someone is willing to send me an old piston for L300s I can make those too. Material cost will be high on this one. Quick look at metalsupermarket.com says $175 for 24 inches. I think I can get it cheaper than that, lets say $150, and I could make about 10 or ...

Stainless Steel Brake Caliper Pistons

How much interest would there be in stainless steel brake caliper pistons. Im making some for myself because I've had troubles with them twice now in the last 4 years. Most recently the pistons would not return after releasing the brakes - this resulted in overheat, smoke, and a tow truck ride. Woul...
