Re: L300 vs. L400
I like the looks for the L300 *way* better but I'm starting to lean toward the L400 as it seems much more family friendly - smoother ride, safer (Engine in front, Airbags, ABS, SuperSelect drivetrain w/ AWD mode, proper shoulder belts for a carseat) and better interior (swivel captains chairs, walkw...

L300 4WD and hard surfaces
I live in Taiwan and would like to explore mountain roads here, many of which are a bit sketchy - frequently typhoon damaged and under reconstruction. I would also like to take on some sand dunes and light trails now and then as well - definitely very little technical or excessively rocky trails tho...

Why do you import JDM Pajeros?
I can understand Delicas, as there are no North American models but I'm curious why owners have imported JDM Pajeros to Canada. What is the difference between a JDM Pajero and a US or Canadian market Montero of the same year. Or why not go for a newer Montero or Montero Sport/Challenger? Is it the d...

Re: Delica - Safe enough for baby?
Yes, I'm sure Paddy the new mother... *ahem* New father. Anyway, looking at the pictures in that other thread, it looks like a lot of jerry-rigging (no offense to those handy folks who did the mods) is involved and I'm not comfortable doing that myself. I'll ask some local owners and mechanics if t...

Delica - Safe enough for baby?
I'd like to get an L300 here in Taiwan next year and I'm wondering if it's safe enough to use a baby/toddler. I'm not so concerned about the handling and lack of ABS (I'm familar with trucks) as the fact that being a 1980's design it may not be safe enough in a crash to be a conscienable family car....

Nice ride! Safaris sure are The Sex... Too bad the US has such shite grey market import regs. At least I can get a late model L300 here in Taiwan.

Re: What model is this?
Yep, that would be the Adventure, based on the CMC (China Motors Corporation/Taiwan Mitsubishi) designed Freeca, IIRC. One sees a ton of Freecas in Taiwan - basically a cheap MPV body plopped onto a 2wd Pajero chassis. Designed to compete with the everpopular in SE Asia Toyota Kijang/Zace. Nothing s...

Re: 5 speeders...
I see some complaints about the L300 5-speed's top end on here and I assume you are talking about the diesel engined Delicas. Here in Taiwan I have the choice between diesel (2000 and earlier models) or petrol (2000-2005 models) and can go with either manual or automatic transmission. Does the 5-spe...

Re: L300 vs. L400
Green1: "From my experience so far, the L400 has slightly worse fuel economy than the L300 did, though signifigantly more power. (approximately 12L/100km instead of 11L/100km)" In Taiwan you can get both the L300 and L400 with the 2.4L engine. Will they have the same gas mileage or is the ...

Re: Thinking about getting a Delica in Taiwan
Yes, I will be buying and using one in Taiwan. The local Mitsubishi company (CMC) has been building them here for over 20 years so I don't have to import it and parts are cheap. Delicas -especially the L300 - are pretty much THE mountain vehicle here (along with the Suzuki Jimny/Escudo/Vitara et al....

Re: Thinking about getting a Delica in Taiwan
Good to know about the petrol...now I can limit my search to 2000-2005 model years. A couple other other questions - Is there any way to put shoulder-strap seatbelts in back anywhere? My son's car seat is supposed to use that type of seatbelt but it's not the end of the world if we do have them (our...

Re: Thinking about getting a Delica in Taiwan
Thanks for the info, Green1!
There was a thread on here about fuel economy but everyone seemed to have the diesel. Does anyone have experience with the petrol engine or at least have a good estimate on what to expect (8-10 km/l?) as far as fuel economy on the 2.4L?

Thinking about getting a Delica in Taiwan
Hey y'all. I'm living in Taiwan for awhile and thinking about getting a 4wd Delica (with manual transmission) as they are very common here. I have some questions - here's the rundown. 1. a local mechanic told me the L300 is great but he doesn't like the L400, couldnt quite get at why due to language...
