Re: Manual Pull Accelerator Thing...

I know what it is and for... It won't lock and it looks like something is missing. There's a plate with 2 angled bends, a nut, the plastic sheath that the wire goes through that you screw the nut to but it looks like something's missing. So what ever fix my friend did wasn't going to last so I'm try...

Manual Pull Accelerator Thing...

I have an older Paj with the manual pull accelerator. You can pull it out and turn it slightly to lock it in position. A friend fixed this once but never looked closely enough at what he did. Something is missing or I don't know what but reached under there and the nut felt loose...turned it and sud...

Re: Warm vs Cold Start up - bit baffled

Thought I'd offer an update. Got out to Squamish for some climbing and coordinated a trip to CVI while out there. Deli Tune - consisting of cleaning the injectors and advancing the timing (IP which I assume is the engine as well). Runs awesome...good bye smoke unless I hit the fuel but usually don't...

Re: Warm vs Cold Start up - bit baffled

Ok thanks for the info. @ GISdood - According to Butch CV motors in BC the IP's on this model yr were good. Not ruling it out but hopefully that's not it. I looked into the front seal before and I really hope that's not it. That will be the last resort. @ nvanadm - thanks I'll check all connections....

This is incredible information!

Just my 2 cents but this should be in the wiki.

Thanks both Lee/Jesse...good reading/learning.

Re: Warm vs Cold Start up - bit baffled

Update and still baffled...perhaps more now. Truck sitting all night (+ 10 hrs), Temp +6 in the morning...and the trouble starting this thing has persisted. No I didn't plug it in. The one common denominator has been engine warm vs cold. If I plug it in then I don't really get the issue. Doesn't sta...

Re: 1990 Brake Part Numbers?

Ok...Brake saga is over. Here's what my findings have been. Got some rear pads/rotors from a Mitsu parts supplier. The pads looked identical to the ones I got from Napa to match a 92 Montero. Pads : The difference this time (seemingly - only because I took the others back)...we took out the little s...

Re: Warm vs Cold Start up - bit baffled

Thanks Lee... Good to know I'm not the only one struggling with these in colder weather or not so colder as the case seems to be. That said it started easier before I took it to the mechanic. I would never plug it in at -5. I'm going to do a few things...change the in/out fuel lines between filter a...

Re: Warm vs Cold Start up - bit baffled

Didn't plug it in at -1 and it sat for more than 12 hrs...it didn't fire right up pushing the 12 v manual glow plug system for at least 10-12 seconds. Ok waited for the first half ass cold day at -5 to test the difference priming it would make. It definitely started easier although I also held the g...

Warm vs Cold Start up - bit baffled

Took my truck to a mechanic top get the fuel filter done. All the in/out hoses look fine BUT since then (winter) it's having more trouble starting even when it's not that cold out and not plugged in. I'm talking -5 or so...requires some cranks and wants to cut out - so quite rough for a bit. In fact...

Re: 1990 Brake Part Numbers?

Ok...some things worked and others didn't. Front brakes - 1989 Montero works for both pads and rotors. Good news my fronts were fine so I just took the brakes back. Rear brakes - 89-91 Montero are drums. 92 Montero's were fitted with discs. I Didn't try the rotors themselves as they weren't part of ...

Re: 1990 Brake Part Numbers?

Ok so I'm coming across parts with one exception...

The '89 Montero has rear drums...at least according to the systems and obviously the Paj has rear discs.

Do the front pads fit the rear as well? That would be way simple!

Re: 1990 Brake Part Numbers?

Thank you Jesse!

I've got a Gen 1 '90...I'm going with the single piston.

I don't know what it's like in BC but I've asked Canadian Tire here [and I think Auto Value as well] and they said they couldn't find Montero's in their system. I'll try Napa...someone has to have Montero.

Cheers, Orion

Re: 1990 Brake Part Numbers?

Ok thanks I'll go take a look.

If that's the case I'm going to ask a really stupid question...what's the pt of this list?
