Re: Cold Weather Delica Owners

I installed that exact rad-hose heater on the 3 cyk Perkins diesel on my tractor. Makes a world of difference to staring at -20C. As does the BEEYOOTIFUL cranking battery I bought. 1200 CCA, I believe. A timer's a good idea for the heater although I just leave it on overnight. I think it only draws ...

Re: Daihatsu's Baby Delica

"NA automakers have dropped the ball" No kidding. Remember the Chevy Citation? Vega? Pinto? Don't get us started on the Hummer. Or have they fumbled on purpose ? "Big vehicles, Big profits" is not my words, they're a byword of the industry. That GM is turning overseas is fact. Th...

Re: Daihatsu's Baby Delica

It'll never happen here. There's a rule in the auto manufacturing biz: Big vehicles, big profits. Small vehicles, small profits. That's why we have $50K gas guzzling pickup trucks, not tiny, fun, economical kei cars. A salesman at Japanoid told me that he was amazed when he got here from Japan, how ...

What about windows glass?

Can you get a replacement windshield for these Delicas? That's the item most likely to need renewing, especially for those of us living away from the raincoast. :o

How about the other windows? Any problems sourcing these, including delivery?

Re: Daihatsu's Baby Delica

Both the Mud Master-C and the Tanto look just great. Honda's Vamos Hobio is another good example of what the Japanese are up to. What's not to like about a sub $20K family van that gets probably 60 mpg? Why we can purchase the outrageously expensive and not-very-practical "Smart", but we c...

Re: Driving from the docks - is it safe?

Seriously, happy to help a Delica owner. Cheers, Christine. Sorry to hi-jack, but I just hafta share. I have '74 VW camper (50K miles!) that I've just returned to health with the assistance of a VW forum. Since it's just too much of an antique for long distance highway travel (at least for me), I'm...

Crystal Lite Roof questions.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Crystal Lite Roof? Leaks? Breakage? Security? Hot in summer? The shades mechanism in the ceiling looks like a nightmare. Can you install a roof rack (and carry a small canoe) with the Crystal Lite Roof? Can you install a roof rack on a high roof Delic...

Wannabe has measurement request

Seriously considering a Delica to replace my aging Chev Asstro. If you have a tape measure handy, I'd love to know the rear door interior height. I need to see if I can roll my scooter inside like I do with the domestic van. Also, the rear floor height above the road. If I'm reading the posts correc...
