Re: Strange Sound

That makes sense - the DRL is located behind the headlight (from what I can remember). Thanks. I will check that out.

Strange Sound

In the last week or so I have been hearing a buzzing sound from the area above the gas pedal and behind the fuse box and it only happens when my headlight switch or e-brake is on. It seems to be coming from the headlight area. The sound is not constant and everything is working normally. Any thought...

Re: Smoke Trail and loss of Power

I have had two turbos crap the bed on me - one was an incorrect bearing size that caused the problem, the other, not so sure. Either way, I agree with the other posters re: turbo problem and if a mechanic agrees, you may have well found the problem.

Good luck

Re: Instant Loss of Power and restarts a minute later?

I had a similar thing happen to me and it was the battery cable connection. New cables, new connection, bye-bye problem. I hope you get it sorted.

Re: Lost power. Max 50km/h

what jfarsang said - get your timing belt checked - when mine slipped a tooth I could only hit 50 kph max - this does not sound like a turbo related issue.

Re: failing turbo?

These are the symptoms that I have experienced: 1) a failing turbo could be characterized by a noise like a rattling chain (high-pitched rattle) under the van when under load; 2) If it gets really bad, the van may increase in both rpms and speed voluntarily, which means detonation is forthcoming. Wh...

Re: Headlight Combo Switch

Yeah - I have looked at that post multiple times and to be honest I have left the wiring up the experts - I would likely screw it up. I was aware that the headlight switch was weak and like the idea of either a dedicated headlight toggle or the wiring setup that tardis posted. Either way, someone el...

Re: Headlight Combo Switch

Thanks guys. RichD - That is what I mean, although my wiper switch is working just fine. I have had the headlight switch replaced and repaired a couple of times, so am on to looking for a good used or even a new one, but they are pretty expensive new. David - have you installed a remote headlight co...

Thanks in advance.

Re: WVO while apartment living

This has been on my list of things to do for about a year and I am in a position now where I can seriously consider a WVO conversion. I do not have the means (space / time) to filter myself, so was going to put the feelers out there to see if there was any interest in a co-op type setup for the Vict...

Re: Can Anyone Shed Some Light ?

No - I didn't measure the amperage - too many things were going wrong so I deferred to the experience of Glen and his crew. They did indicate that there was too much load overall.

Re: Can Anyone Shed Some Light ?

The combo switch did not melt, but it did get hot and emitted this totally bizarre smell (not a typical burnt circuit smell). The most recent repair involved re-soldering all of the connections on the combo switch. Together with all of the recent changes (DRL, headlights, lower watt daytime running ...

Re: Can Anyone Shed Some Light ?

Hey - I suffered from a similar problem - for me it turned out that there was too much load on the system. I recently had a new DRL module wired in, new headlights (Depo vs. Soueast), and lower watt bulbs for the daytime running lights. So far so good. I don't have enough familiarity with the ins-an...

I'd like to know as well - I spend a lot of time working in the Kootenays and Revelstoke is one of three homes away from home.
