Tell us a little about your Mitsubishi van/wagon. What kind of power plant do you have in it? How does the suspension work, do you have torsion bars? Can you post any pictures?

It has the G64B 12 valve gas engine which I just got back from the machine shop following inspection along with a large estimate. 2WD Torsion front leaf rear. I've heard some complaints from backseat passengers about a stiff ride but otherwise it what you would expect from sitting directly on top of the tires. I also have a 1988 4WD Toyota Van(Townace) which has coils in the rear and seems to ride a little nicer. I have been interested in your JDM Delicas but, since they are beyond my budget and considering my current engine dilema I've been curious about possibly obtaining a wrecked Delica to do a diesel swap which is why I joined the forum. To research and ask questions. I am also considering a diesel swap for the Toyota when the time comes for a replacement engine.

P.S. I would also love to get ahold of some JDM mirrors for both of my vans:)

I am very often down in the Bonney Lake area - in fact, I will be down that way this weekend. I might be able to bring you down some JDM stuff from here on Vancouver Island from someone like Glen at Coombs Country auto.

Welcome from a fellow Washingtonian who is also interested in these vans! I can't believe our governments think these vans are a threat to the auto dealers AND a safety hazard because they (JDM's) are RHD!

• [1] The 4G series have quite an history as being a dependable engine, we have the manuals for the 4G7, 4G63 and the 4G64 located in L300 Delica Downloads, which is in Delica Canada Technical, which you will find in the Forum Index.
  [2] Tell them to bring a pillow. Actually I added an extra leaf in the rear suspension but I do set my rear shocks to be soft, which would make a difference.
  [3] The 4D56T is an excellent engine; weighing in at 2.5 litres and generating upward to 86 ponies. Very simple engines. However you would need to consider the intake/exhaust manifold with the turbocharger; the fuel filter system; don't forget the glow plugs and the ECU.

As far as mirrors go there are wrecked Delicas in the Lower Mainland (Greater Vancouver), as well as members who make the gantries. You ought to drop on up to a mini meet and meet us all in person and we can show you our wagons.

Mr. Flibble, I am no tin the market just yet as I am concetrating on getting it and my Toyota running again as it recently blew a haed gasket. If your driving your Deli down and had a few moments to spare I would love to meet up and check out your van. I could possibly even bring a US spec van for you to look at if interested as I may be picking up a parts van on Saturday. I'll try PMing you.
