keep in mind that diesel floats on wvo. so if your tank sits any length of time, your mix at the pickup becomes higher in wvo

been playing around with mixes. started to mix RUG instead of diesel in the single tank, works great so far, but if you have a coolant heated filter DON'T add 20% RUG to your WVO.

too much RUG + heated filter = lots and lots of bubbles (vapours from the fuel) and power loss. starts great but runs like crap once up to temperature. going to put a bypass valve on the coolant loop to the filter to see if it runs better.
up to 10% RUG showed no issues.

From previous discussions in other cyber places, seems like the consensus for RUG (regular fuel for the confused ones) is up to 15%. It actually gives some zoom zoom by bringing back power to the wvo... My truck likes it better than my wallet.

I also found mixing 10% diesel in wvo worked well but I'm kind of preferring the RUG...

i have not noticed any power gain but its definately cheaper using RUG to thin out the WVO compared to Diesel. I think i am getting similar viscosities with using 10% RUG compared to 40% Diesel. that is a lot of fuel cost reduction.

we are looking to start blending some wvo (prob 50% over the summer), what questions should i ask the oil suppliers to ensure quality and what kind of price should i expect to pay for the oil. We have 2 possible sources so far on the sunshine coast... http://www.plantoilrecovery.ca/ and http://www.sustainablesunshinecoast.com ... ls-network but i am still waiting for reply from both about supply.

I noticed you have mentioned this a few times on the forum so I thought i would test it. I mixed samples of WVO/Diesel blends in different percentages, a WVO/Gasoline blend, and a couple of other alcohol blends, and they have been sitting for over a month and i still do not have separation.

what blends did you use or test that made the diesel float on the WVO?

Hey,
40% wvo
170 km Vancouver island trip
2 hours or so straight driving
ambient temp 15°c.
Average speed 110 km @2800rpm to 3000rpm
Very smooth and nice drive, noticed slight decrease in power.
Same tank on way back 4 days later, definitely a rougher start up!
Ran very well again once up to temp.
Topped tank off with diesel once back home, rough start symptoms
Gone next day.
Will dial it back to 30% for next trip.
