Will Biodiesel help pass Aircare??

Post by Grasshopper2Ant »

Took 1992 Pajero (EGR blanked) to Aircare and Failed at 40% Opacity.

Previous 2years ago, was 4.45% without EGR blanked off.

Will biodiesel help me pass? And at what % is recommended?

I do not wish to do any mods, just pass aircare, then run it on diesel.

It recently had a new head gasket and guide seals and was taken to aircare immediately and failed. It now has been run 1500km on the freeway.

Any advice is appreciated.

I think something else is wrong here. A jump like that doesn't come from blanking the EGR. All of my numbers got better after I blanked it off. I also don't think Biodiesel will help. Sometimes it just comes down to the tester as well.

check timing, valves, fresh oil, and warm it up good....is it really smokey?

If it was winter put studded tires on and they only idle test it...has to be during studded tire season Oct-April

Thanks for the input guys, I am going to start with a tuneup. By checking timing I am assuming it is Injection Pump timing. I plan to do the Seafoam before I retest. I thought biodiesel would reduce emissions. It smoked a lot more when I passed. After replacing some head parts, it smoked a lot less, only on start ups but I failed. The tester really revved it up when testing. Should I consider veggie oil without any mods?

Blending veggie won't hurt but I think you first need to have your engine within specs just like djjack pointed out, sounds like it isn't...

I always do my aircare on 100% veggie and get great results, but my trucks are well tuned ;)

Cheers
