Give Martin a call at Tita’s Mexican Restaurant, 536-6th Street, Courtenay, BC, Phone:(250) 334-8033. He sells the WVO systems I use and other fellows have run on new VO only, he could have some helpful information.

Have seen three vehicles run on new grease, and a 300d in North Van gets a major HP kick on new canola! I got to drive it on the upper levels last year, thing felt like it had a extra 20-40 horse's on new canola with that Frybrid system I like alot!

biodiesel and Joe Street

Post by Krackie »

Hi Gang:
First entry after picking up my fist Deli baby on Saturday. Took it out on the nasty logging roads to Virgin Falls in Clayoquot Sound. Almost better than beer!

Anyhow, next step 4 me is to go biodeisel. Funny you should mention Joe Street and his reactor process http://nonprofitfuel.ca/. He is my best friend from back in Ontario and one of the reasons I decided to get a Deli. He has graciously offered to come out and "help" me build my reactor and teach me the 1 and 2-step process for the fuel. (I am technically inept). I am also trying to get OUR ECOVILAGE in Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island to invite him to do a 2 day course on this like he did at EVERDALE http://www.everdale.org/index.php?modul ... ItemId=142 in Ont.

So to all the BC members, if anyone is interested in collaborating/participating in this let me know. We just need to pay for his airfare as he loves BC and he'll do the course for free. I will end up flying him out here anyways . . .

Hey,

I would be interested. I am located in the Cowichan so its just round the corner. There are some people brewing Biodiesel here and there is a coop that is just getting going:

http://www.cowfuel.org/

A friend of mine told me about it and I am going to join. There is someone every Saturday at the Duncan farmer's market promoting it and possibly also selling some Biodiesel.

You might also want to contact them as it might be a good target group interested in getting Joe Street out as well.

Thanks for the interest and information. I am mostly on the Coast, but am trying to relocate to Victoria. Once there, I think a coop would be a good idea. Until then I will need to make my own fuel. I'll keep u posted when Joe comes out.

Good to hear about some initial interest so soon! I wouldn't have the exact cost yet, but a flight from TO to Victoria is normally around the 5-6 hundred dollar range. So the more people the less it would cost.

If I am relocated in Victoria by the time I fly him out I can certainly billet some folks AND let's not forget, we can sleep in our Delis :P

I was thinking sometime in March/April but would need to confirm things with Joe and his schedule. I sent him a message today due to the interest generated (5 people, 6 including me) in less than 24 hours.

Hi gang;

I am the guy from Ontario that Krackie was talking about. I am posting on this thread in case there are some list members monitoring this thread that didn't notice my initial post in the general section and that I started a new thread about a biodiesel seminar.
I would be interested in traveling to B.C. to do this if there is enough interest and it seems like there is. So anyone here who is interested in attending a seminar on how to build and run my biofuel reactor should switch to that thread to discuss it specifically and let this section return to general BD and WVO topics.

Cheers

Did you ever hear back from Bjorn? I also contacted him about a system, but he wanted to take a look at my Delica before gave me any ball park figures. I'd love to know what a system will cost and how it fit into your rig.

no but after we finish building the bakery link here
http://web.mac.com/macewen/iWeb/Site/Blog/Blog.html
we plan on putting a filtration system at the back of the bakery and get both our vans converted. let me know if you get any further. the only thing holding us back in money right now. we may sell one of our delicas to fund the conversion and filter system.
