Does this mean the spare tire has to be moved? I'd love a veggie tank, but am not wild about having the spare on my back or roof.

I'm still very interested in an unheated tank with filler assembly. Do you have any shots of the filler assembly? How much does it cost to get the exhaust reworked?

Last time I was up at CCAutos Glen was talking about fabricating up several spare tire mounts that fit on the front bullbars. Not sure what stage he is at with those. Unfortunately the only real options I've seen for a WVO tank is either in the spare tire spot or inside the van. Right now I have a 20 Gal tank that sits quite comfortably inside the van behind the rear row of seat, but I would still like to reclaim that space for cargo.

the other spot for a tank would be where the stock muffler is if you go 2.5" out the side (not sure how big a tank can go there but if it is small than you use that one for diesel and the stock tank/tanks for wvo). I'm more and more glad I went with the single tank system so I don't need to install another tank.... but I want to anyways for more range :)

Picked up my kit for the Pajero yesterday, looks really nice in the box but it will look even better installed. Thanks Andrew, you were great to deal with.

Is there a way to tack weld or loose the threaded studs hanging down on the rear ?

With my off pavement driving style, I'd be worried about ripping them off and the tank slipping out. :-D

The kit looks really good Andrew. :M

I agree,

in the instructions it says to replace the nuts used to initially install the tank with lock nuts and then trim off the extra threads leaving about an 1/8" or so of thread showing.

I'm in!
Any way to preview the instructions, to make sure I'm up to the task on my own?
Also, will you ship the kit to Edmonton via Greyhound?
Thanks,
David

Is there any way to still have a tow mount hitch for hauling bikes, trailers etc with the wvo kit on that doesn't involve losing space for cargo??

I have a hitch from Max Overdrive installed. It uses the bumper mounts and existing holes back in the chassis. Can't be 100% sure till I try it, but from the pictures, I would guess that since the bumper is still attached, it won't interfere with the hitch. I'm not too worried about it.

For other models of hitch you'd have to look at it case-by-case. I'm sure that after installing the tank, any custom hitch fabricator could get around it, it doesn't look much more obtrusive than the spare that's already there.

as dpd has stated the bumper will not interfere with the tank install.

no cargo room is used up.

I am also working on a front end tire mount for a customer right now. will post pics when I am finished.

A note to anyone that has a sway bar and a hitch (mine's an E&H custom build): you'll have to remove the hitch temporarily to get the sway bar down (for drilling holes to mount brackets) since the hitch uses the sway bar attachment points as well, and pretty much have to go with a side-exit exhaust, unless you're willing to do some tricky bending and run the exhaust over the spring... The hitch is pretty heavy and awkward (mine especially since the wiring is attached) and it takes 2 people and a floor jack to get it back on. The tank itself fits inside the hitch, but the coolant connections on the side don't quite fit, so a slight re-design is being done.

Otherwise it's a fine looking kit and I hope to be up and running in the next few days.

PS. I found that my spare fits well underneath the rear bench, although outside the vehicle somewhere would be better it's pretty unobtrusive there and isn't using up much useful cargo space.

new tank is done,
I am thinking that I just might start making all the tanks with the coolant fittings coming out the front so no issues with hitches will come up.

for the exhaust you can buy some $8 45* 1-7/8" exhaust elbows from canadian tire to fit your exhaust. I just did this yesterday and the install looks like it came out of the exhaust shop!!!!!

it will be tight but easy to do if you have someone hold the pipe in place while you tack weld it together.

A few questions from a potential Delica owner:
1. Will a WVO kit work in a Winnipeg winter climate? I'm talking winter temperatures down to -40°C. Or will I be running regular diesel during the winter? What are the low temperature limits to using a WVO kit?

2. For your kit, is it just pour in filtered WVO and go?

3. How is performance affected on WVO?

Thanks,
DS
