1992 DELICA EXCEED for sale in Toronto

For sale 1992 DELICA EXCEED L300 Starwagon turbo diesel 4x4 , 125.000 km, 5-spd transmission, crystal lite roof, sunroof
The only reason for sale, I've moved from house to condo and Delica doesn't fit to underground parking, because of the high roof.
Like an option, a trade for another diesel vehicle is possible.

Can you pass drive clean with the EGR plate?

The moment you block off the EGR valve the engine stops recycling hot exhaust into your cylinders; which allows the diesel in the cylinder to burn cleaner and more effectively; this means less hydrogen particulates coming out the tail pipe.

The idea around the EGR valve was to introduce exhaust back into the chamber and cutting down the amount of oxygen with the hypothesis that the diesel would burn cooler, ergo create less NOx emissions. The problem with this is for what little NOx emissions you save, you do so at the expense of creating lots of Soot (unburned fuel), hydrogen dioxide, hydrogen monoxide <and> your engine runs hotter, primarily because the exhaust you are reintroducing is really, really hot. Also you get less power. If you block the EGR your passing grades at Aircare will make you look like an honour student. Regarding "Drive Clean" in Ontario, I am presuming that they follow a similar format as Aircare in BC. Perhaps you should ask them what their policy is for diesel engines.

e testing in ontario is a visual. no dyno runs or anything. so really, EGR block plate wasn't necessary....?

yup - if it aint pissin out black smoke then your good to go, all visual. Mine took 5 seconds to test. Nice Delica by the way, to bad about the clearance issue.

Ya don't have to block it with a blanking plate to disable the ERG - just disconnect the vacuum hose that actuates it and it's outta play. Heaps easier.
