Ed's "PlantDrive" Converted 91 white 5 speed For sale~ SOLD

Post by PlantDrive »

I've bought a newer car, just not using this for camping or 4x4, etc. and not hauling as much stuff as I used to.

I think I have had it on a major logging road once, other than that, pavement.

White high roof. "Star Wagon"

Custom aluminum tank, 3 port valves, VM2 filter, vacuum gauge for filter, etc.
115,000 km Timing belt, water pump, belts, pulley all recently done as preventive maintenance.
Optima red top battery. New glow plugs. Exhaust replaced when I got it - less than 2 years old.
I bought the van with 65K on it and have put the rest on over the last year and a half, no problems, very good van.

The good: Excellent runner, very nice WVO conversion that works beautifully. Big WVO tank at rear under van.
About 80 litres capacity, plus you also have the original tank of diesel and can run on diesel any time.
The weight of the tank, even close to empty, and the steel bumper (about 50 pounds) at the rear of the van made a nice difference in the handling. When you have the tank closer to full, it's even better. Made it feel a lot more like a rear-engine Vanagon, much better handling, and better traction without having to engage the 4x4 every time you are on a little patch of snow.

The not so good: Needs two new tires and likely about due for front brake pads.
Factory radio is currently removed, does not work, amplifier section is gone, fades out after a while.
A/C compressor seized, so I cut the belt.
One small stone chip in windshield that has not spread in last year and a half.
One small dime sized rusty-bit below rear window.
Front bumper and lower valance needs repaint (stone chips, surface rust)

What I like about it is the rear seats are the bench type with the jump seat, so you just lay them all flat and toss in the foamy or air bed to camp.

I added some curtains from another van that match for colour. No rear curtain was available.

Custom steel bumper with trailer hitch (light duty!!!)

Flanges, not hubs. Reliable and convenient.

$10,500.00

(That tank alone is worth over $1000, it's 1/4" aluminum and heavy duty brackets, and is above the height of the differential, BTW)

Price reduced to $8900
THIS IS A BARGAIN IF YOU WANT A GOOD VAN WITH A 5 SPEED, AND A GOOD WVO CONVERSION, READY TO GO!!
Location: Salmon Arm, BC.

Last chance to buy with the existing WVO Conversion intact, including the $1000+ 1/4" thick custom tank, etc..
I have people who want a tank, my welder is backed up for 2 weeks, and I can sell the van minus the conversion for almost as much as with the conversion, it seems.
So, if anyone's interested in the van as it is, converted, let me know ASAP!
Cheers.
