Note on Dealer Vehicle Listings - Please Read
Based on recent feedback from site users, I thought it would be useful to include a couple of pointers on how the Vehicle Listings sections can be more optimally used.
First, please note that posts remain on this forum permanently (unlike other forum websites who "auto-prune" for-sale posts after, say, 3 weeks). Maintaining older listings could have some benefit to folks in the Delica market, who may benefit from info on historical asking prices. What WOULD be useful though is if vendors could modify any expired listings to display a "SOLD" in the title line.
Second, dealers should avoid "top posting" their own listings (i.e., responding to one's own posts to keep the thread current). Oftentimes a dealer post will trigger questions/comments from other site visitors, and when this happens, of course the vendor is encouraged to respond. However, if subtle changes are required, a preferable option would be to modify the original post.
Thanks everybody!

Wiki Leak: There are changes occurring as I type this unofficial unsanctioned tidbit of information.
Rumour has it ~ as "Delica Trader" slowly becomes refined, "Sales by Canadian Registered Dealers" will be phased out of Delica Canada and replaced by a single "Delica Trader update portal" in "View Active Topics" ~ thereby cleaning up the board forum.

Rumors aside, if the self-bump posting rule is not being followed and is not being enforced, then there should not be any rules at all.
In the meantime, people (not familiar with the forum) will just have to put up with members bumping and responding to their own threads and those who are using the classifieds area will just have to accept being bumped off the first page by the members responding to their own posts.
Responding to your own post = quote your own post, quote your own post, quote your own post , .....

I'll second that. It got pretty annoying in the active topics list over the last couple months with dealers giving us updates about every move of their business life.
I know you could just skip over it, but there is something wrong if I need to go to page two only to get to a not dealer related thread to read.

I'll third that, sure delica trader should help but it's the principal. If someone wants the product they can find it by using the search function instead of hoping a dealer will eventually post the item they want. I think it's more of an attempt at free advertising than actually trying to help people.

Might be helpful if you were able to filter the active topics and new posts to exclude the for sale section. Not sure how hard that would be.

Re: Note on Dealer Vehicle Listings - Please Read
In general, the "forum" platform is suboptimal when it comes to vehicle postings, and I am hopeful that by shifting vehicle advertising to Delica Trader this will benefit all users.
In general dealer-members have conducted themselves remarkably well on this board, and are a valuable resource to many. Prospective buyers do use this site to find vehicles, and therefore vehicle listings are a vital service. At the same time, dealers do have "competitive" considerations, and there have been concerns expressed over excessive "top-posting."
By removing vehicle sales threads from the "Active Topics" page (and encouraging vendors to post vehicles on Delica Trader instead) I can see a number of benefits.
1. For prospective vehicle buyers, it becomes much easier to immediately identify available vans that might be of interest (will no longer need to comb through 85 threads to decipher which 8 are still for sale). Also, the most visible dealers will be those with the greatest number of listed delicas (and no longer simply the dealer that toppost most frequently).
2. For vendors, much more strongly-targetted advertising (For example I can weight the ad display so that Saskatchewan vans get displayed predominantly by site users in Saskatchewan, etc.).
3. For "advertising-averse" users, the option to use the forum ads-free (by logging in).
Before fully implementing the change-over, I do want to first apply a few more improvements to Delica Trader (for example, the core focus of the platform should be Delicas but should also accommodate Pajeros, as well as other non-Delicas).

It's happening right now at a Delica Canada near you. The mighty gears of Delica Canada are turning ~ and like most things at Delica Canada ~ they will be fully operational at precisely the proper moment that they are meant to be. Not a minute before and not a minute after... .

The dealer facebook-style updates are lovely this time of year.
Oh wait. They do it 24/7.
