Does anyone know of any reason why the Nissan BE1 would have any problems passing Canadian importation standards (other than the normal run of the mill tires, lights, etc...)? Reason being I'm thinking of bringing one over to surprise my
daughter with for her upcoming birthday. For those that are wondering its based on the same platform as the micra/figaro/pao. A very cool very little car without the inflated sticker of a new mini or the unreliability of the old mini. Next best thing to the old renault R5 "le car" I had when I was her age (an undisclosed number of years ago). I'm seeing them on the auction sites for as little as 1,500 $. Go Canada!!

Re: Nissan BE1
Has it already been turned back or are you asking pre-emptively?
Generally if it's 15+ years and meets the requirements on the inspection sheet (which usually means RH-road lights, DOT tires, side marker reflectors, DRL have to be added/changed) you're set. ICBC wonders if it's RHD ('cause it's an import), but other than that...
There are plenty of other Kei vehicles now here in Canada, this one shouldn't be any more of a problem than the others.

Re: Nissan BE1
This is a preemptive question. I have never imported before so was unsure if any vehicles were more troublesome to get past inspection than any other. Thanks for the feedack.

Re: Nissan BE1
Headlights would be your only real issue, I havent looked at the car your talking about, so I dont know the shape of them, but a day time running light module, tires , reflectors and headlights... should be good, OH buy what ever is available for a tune up and other small parts so you can match them here / have spares...even exhaust....
ship container so your parts dont disapear

Looks like it would need side reflecters, third brake light, DTRL, DOT or Load rated tires, Change the sealed Beam headlights. and it would prolly be fine..
sweet little car.
