Got myself a new ride!

Post by Eli.haveman »

So my last Delica is unfortunately no longer with me... I had the chance to go to BC from Ontario and purchase a new one from some lovely folks :)
Me and my friend flew out there and got picked up by another friend in Calgary. He then drove us out of Alberta to have a look at this sweet van. After seeing it, my mind was made up. We did the deal and my buddy and I headed back home. Spent some time in the mountains seeing some sights then a bit more time with my buddy and his wife in Calgary then it was onward home.

Had a great trip, love the new ride, and all I can say is bring on the snow!

Just picked her up and wanted to snap a pic! In BC.

Old in the back. New in the front!

Slept in it on the way back home :) I'm at the back sprawled across the rear seat.

In Wawa at the giant goose!

This Delica is unlike any other I have seen.
It's lifted in Japan by D4 about 7". Big winter tires on her. Clean underbody with minimal spots of red on the frame. Have an appointment to have that fixed up pre winter.
Inside is where it really shines though. There's a DVD player in the center console along with a TV tuner. (Haven't figures that one out yet) and a second screen mounted on the dash above the radio which can be used as GPS (seems to have only a map of Japan..?) And a backup camera. Which is pretty sweet.
Also it has remote power locks and a remote starter that works from about 500 yards away. Lol. Starts and runs exceptionally better than my previous deli by a mile.

Still finding cool new things out about it. But so far Im in love.

Congrats Eli! Sweet rig.

I have been contemplating a move to Windsor, Ontario with my beloved Deli. How was your experience with having work done, finding parts, etc.?

Hey!
As far as having work done, I have been able to most of it myself with access to a friend's heated garage :) For other work, I have brought it to Import Auto in Guelph and couldnt have been happier with their quality of work. Getting parts is a bit of a pain but Rocky Mountain Imports and Rising Sun have been there when i needed them. Once i got a part from RMI in 2 days!

Let me know if you do end up making the move. We could organize a meetup in Ontario! I know another guy who is getting a new Deli shipped from the island out Ontario way in the new year. There are dozens of us... Dozens!

Eli

ps. not sure why all my pictures arent showing up...

That's awesome! Thanks for the good info... and sorry for the slow reply.

Can anyone recommend an insurer that will take on rhd in the last 3 months or so?? I'm getting stone walled pretty hard right now.

So as summer is basically here... I did an oil change in the driveway today and it was sweet. The spin on filter sure was tight. The metal must have swelled up due to the temperature change. Haha last filter I put on it, the temperature was well below zero!
But as I was saying, I'm feeling like a good meetup is necessary this summer. I'm always getting reports of people telling my they see other delicas and they text me pictures of delis they snap as they pass them on the road etc., But I have yet to see any of you in person as I've been on the road. Where is everyone !?
We should try and organize a gathering for the summer. Me and my buddy were thinking of a well known hydro cut near madoc this summer. It would be awesome to get some deli owners together and go out wheeling too this summer!
I'd be down for a parking lot meetup for now though. Let's get our delis all together and make people look! Haha. Anyways let me know what you think.
