Are you going to run an OM617 turbo in the G-wagon? Love that motor and it can take abuse with its cast head and block.
I swapped one into a Willys FC170. I loved that motor.

Ya it has the 2.8 gasser so that will be ditched for the OM617 ...tempted to do a 4BT but they are pricey and hard to find and i like the fact that the OM617 will rev to 5k if you need it compared to 3k for the 4BT

There was a 4bt for sale on BC4X4 for around $3000.00 a while ago. You can have 6 OM617 for that price.
But the OM617 is a really nice motor. Just in North America people have not tuned them much...but they can make big power.
The OM617 has a really nice rpm range so it can drop in with gas gearing. I had a few cooling problems in the Willys when I first set it up. Had it spike the temperature gauge at a point where I could not pull over (snow shed) and by the time I got to the end to pull over the motor hot seized. I let it cool down and it started up and ran the same. Drove it for 2 more years never used a drop of oil and could sit for 6 months and fire up at -5C without even running the glow plugs. Great motor and good swap. My motor had 180,000 miles on it when I got it.

Hey, sorry to highjack your thread but my old man has an 86 Raider and the driver mirror was smashed off. DieselRaider you wouldn't happen to know where I could find one would you? I am not sure where to post this so I just thought I would start here. Thanks in advance.
