What about a if under x amount of posts, the moderator must approve the ad?

I bought my Delica of BC4x4 from Adrock and it was his first post over there. I hate to think about me being Delica-less if BC4X4 had the same rule.

Cheers

bc4x4 is a great forum and VERY local.

The reason why it's not bombarded with craigslist-style 1-posters like here is because 99% of their sale rigs are NA and not fresh off the boat that's being flipped for a quick buck.

I just can't stand the fact people deliberately use this forum as a tool to pawn off used Delica's dirt cheap to make a few bucks off some unsuspecting buyer. Then that said buyer finds out soon enough that they got the major shaft.

It's happened. Lots.

I've seen it firsthand and I think it's somewhat preventable.

Of course theres legitimate, well-informed/intentioned sellers out there. From what I've personally seen, 11 out of 12 instances they were a quick buck flippers... well maybe I'm only seeing one type of seller. Who knows.

There is a reason why craigslist exists. No sense bringing in that post-your-vehicle-for-sale here without any followup's. Then why bother posting it here ? Simply just for the exposure ? Well.. that's what these guys are getting. And they are getting buyers who think they can drive away a $6,000 Spacegear without any worries. That is until they get it checked at a reputable shop or get pulled over by the fuzz.

I'm being honest and that's my humble opinion.

I deal with numbers, real world people and stressful situations in my line of work. Checking out low-priced rigs for delica.ca members and seeing that over 90% of the sellers just want to flip it as soon as it lands without any work, my numbers say that's bad. And to ignore it is not my recipe for a good solution.

There are no sticky's that someone brand new to delica's or the forum can come in and right away read about them, what issues are common, how to treat them, what to look for when purchasing one, etc...

If we had something like that, where new members are pointed towards when they sign up, I think it would eliminate the threads "what to look for... I'm interested in delica's but don't know.... mechanical problems... etc... "

It makes it also harder for us sell our own (well maintained) Delicas for a fair price if someone who does not care about this great community and just want to sell for a low price.

One alternative would be to follow the lead of places like IVOAC, they have a template you must fill out for all vehicles you post for sale, if you don't use the template a moderator deletes the thread.
The advantage is that the template can include those tough questions that the unscrupulous sellers don't want asked such as compliance work or maintenance done.
