POLL : VEHICLE SALES - times you can bump your own thread
Site suggestion
VEHICLE SALES SECTION ONLY : Bumping your own thread and replying to your own post limited to once a week.
It comes up once in a while with an unaware new member and only a handful of regular members that use this feature.
When it does come up, it becomes quite obtrusive seeing the same advertisement everyday.
Being primarily an informative site and not an advertising sales site like craigslist/kijii, can we add to rule 1.1 that bumping or replying to your own post in your own thread in the sales section of this forum is limited to a certain amount per day/week ?
Thanks for the consideration.

Re: Bumping your own thread in sales section
I think the bumping is ok or next it will be 10 posts for the same sale etc... or people making ghost accounts to bump with.
I think that 1 bump per week is the max this should be done

Re: Bumping your own thread in sales section
I think bumping for an event that has been mentioned a while ago is alright as well. We need to make sure some things aren't forgotten.
eg) the swap meet in June or the mini meet in the third week of March.

Re: Bumping your own thread in sales section
I'm referring to the sales section only as it's advertising.
Bumping across the forum on events, etc is encouraged

this has been discussed before, i believe. it was agreed that bumping a sales thread once a week is reasonable. isnt it though?

How about doing it every day or even twice a day?

Re: Bumping your own thread in sales section
Jesse, you're not picking on Assiniboine again are you? They seem to be the only dealer that has been bumping their own posts.
If you do have personal issues with a particular business, it is best that you take your differences to a different forum/media. Because really, do we need more rules? I for one am glad that pretty much all the dealers post their inventory regularly on our site - one stop shopping. We need to welcome and encourage them to do so (in the right section), not chase them off with petty technicalities.

Re: Bumping your own thread in sales section
In the end bumping sales threads way to often just annoys the regular user who checks out this forum with "Active Topics". People who don't come that often and use the regular forum structure to navigate won't see the thread that prominent anyway. Not much gain for the seller IMHO.

Re: Bumping your own thread in sales section
It does seem to be a fair observation and I have noticed that there are other dealers and occasionally private sellers that do this. That being said there are so many complaints on this forum about our society becoming a 'nanny state' that it is probably best that more rules aren't created or Delica Canada is going to become the exact thing that many of it's users despise.

Re: Bumping your own thread in sales section
I may just speak for myself but any new posting I will read so the more useful things posted and the less repetitive 'Bump' messages the better but everyone does have their own way of using the forum and as posted before we don't want to become a nanny forum.
