On the flip side it is nice to know when so and so is having a sale on parts, or when something new is coming in. So it would be nice to see that still as long as there is some self restraint and not continuously bump.

Hopefully Mark will not adopt this idea.

Other internet forums that have sponsored ads are there for revenue and it detracts away from the 'small neighbourhood-like feel' that the current delica forum is proud to be like. Take the three images I have in my signature below. Imagine if there were more of these image filled with advertising, etc.. all over the forum. Actually, you don't have to imagine. It is quite prevalent in other forums and it's quite annoying both visually and 'feel'.


This whole scenario can be summed up very well :

delica.ca is a unique internet forum that began small and kept the close-nit feel for years until retailers began to see the forum as an advertising tool for their businesses.

as a community based forum, we (mark and everyone under the delica hat) have separated into two groups of people. Those that care about the feel of the site and those that are indifferent.

The single fact that delica.ca has been divided in even the smallest of forms should have never happened to begin with.

the cause & effect -

It is a fact that the delica-based dealers/parts sellers as businesses are here to make money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. Looking at the overall thoughts about competitive dealers and parts suppliers, it is in fact encouraged as it promotes RHD's and creates more options for buyers and owners alike.

This site, which used to be nice and 'homey' now has a feel of an advertising delica-machine. This is simply due to more dealers = more advertising. You (Rising Sun) just happen to be the top aggressive advertiser on this forum which is why people pick on you. Perhaps it's your way with words, because in one sentence you are helping or giving great advice and at the same time selling something. It's just the way it is and you should not take offence to it. Nothing wrong about it persay, it just doesn't sit well with some who enjoy the forum as a forum.

This view is prevalent not only within the forum but outside of the forum where people talk and chatter as this delica community is much larger than a few people. Word gets around and judgements and opinions are formed very easily simply on words typed out and spoken.


Take these things altogether and you have two very distinct directions in the future :


Keep the site on it's current track and watch it become an advertising haven and marketing tool

or

Completely separate the community forum from the advertising haven which is what appears to be the route they are taking


After reading all of that, you can see that it is all positive and creative thinking/opinions.

In this morning, I found out last two threads from jfarsang and me have been erased.
We have been misled to the new comers/potential customers by his this kind of hypocritical attitude.

I politely ask forum moderator erase jfarsang’s anti posting threads quoted above against Rising Sun Auto Import.
I suspect all his anti postings for Delica Canada and us are deliberately intended, to make excuse for making another website and simultaneously to hurt our business by any means.

All over again, we strongly support Delica Canada’s new ads policy.

I support allowing dealers posting ads here. Afterall, it increases the internet traffic and I love checking out new vans! I think we should keep it the way it is. Let customers experience speak for the dealer rating!

I deleted those two posts. I did so because they contravene Site Rule 1.1.1. They also have nothing to do with this announcement thread. We can't have serious fire fights and hope to maintain a peaceful and vibrant community. Nor is it good for business.

Regarding Jesse's post of 08 Jul 2011, 13:54: We will not be removing it. Apart from two paragraphs which could be construed as, shall we say "pointed", it by and large keeps within the realm of Site Rule 1.1.1. We like to enjoy freedom of speech in Delica Canada, just not at the cost of specious comments. Nor should we retaliate.

I appreciate both your's and Jesse's co-operation in this matter.

I just don't like attcking or being attacked personally without apparent reason.
I would take any sound criticism/advises if they were not based on prejudice and personal intention.
Still don't know "aggressive" though.

have notice recently always have a debate from what other person say, as jessie mention we have freedom of speech here in delica.ca. no intention of pin pointing to anyone either dealer or other seller.
just need a little bit respect on that not like the other person here bragging each topic they see.
this is a public delica.ca forum. not a private one.
i see some people wants to be always number one in this site. even they are just a new member.
we dont need this falco.
we need to be the same as what we have before;
even it has a strong competition between dealer sales and other issue.
still need respect on it and you falco maybe can educate them to have respect on this.

Just to add a thought to those dealers/parts guys with something to sell.
If someone on the normal site is looking for help DONT post items to sell / For Sale.
INSTEAD pm them or email them directly.

A simple PM sent is the easiest way to keep things looking good and not
polluting the thread.

Just a quick update on the recently-announced transitioning of sales advertisements to Delica Trader.

1. As of yesterday, Delica Trader now has a section to advertise Parts for Sale.

2. Delica Trader also now includes a section for Other (Non-Delica) Vehicles - (this change should assist Christine in selling her Echo )

3. In order to encourage this transition of Vehicle Ads from forum posts over to Delica Trader instead, vehicle sales threads and parts for sale will no longer appear in View Active Topics. For the month of September, existing forum posts under "Vehicle Sales" and "Parts for Sale" will be retained.

Due to the migration of "for-sale" threads to Delica Trader, Site Rule 1.1.1 needed to be amended accordingly (the old version specified that "for sale" ads were to be placed in forum threads, whereas the amended version states that such listings should be placed in Delica Trader instead). I've also included a couple of other examples of what types of post constitute a positive contribution to the forum.
