2011 Whipsaw 4x4 wknd overnight - wknd of Sept 9 -11, 2011

Post by jessef »

Whipsaw trail run to follow with RichD's trip last year.

Last year's trip : delica.ca/forum/whipsaw-4x4-wknd-overnight-wknd-of-sept-8825.html

Details added :

Below are the intructions on how to get to the whipsaw entrance and meeting points.

We will be leaving the Ikea Coquitlam parking lot at 7pm Friday Sept 9th and convoying up all the way to the horse cabins meadow area arriving around 10pm near dark.

If some would like to leave early, by all means.

If some cannot make it friday evening, then saturday morning meetup at the horse cabins at 9am would be great.

1. Ikea Coquitlam - 49.23435,-122.866631

2. Rest stop at East Gate gas station - 49.135634,-120.618532

1 to 2 - 250km all highway approx 3 to 3.5 hrs driving time

http://maps.google.ca/maps?saddr=49.234 ... psrc=0&z=9
3. Whipsaw Trail entrance off HWY 3 - 49.368601,-120.576968

2 to 3 - 38km all highway approx 30 mins driving time

http://maps.google.ca/maps?saddr=49.135 ... src=0&z=11
4. Horse cabins meadow - 49.270409,-120.780162

3 to 4 - 20km grated logging road approx 40 mins driving time

http://maps.google.ca/maps?ll=49.298711 ... 11&vpsrc=6

From this point, 4Wd kicks in and there's a good climb up to the alpine with gorgeous views before you dip in and out along the whipsaw trail.

Last year, a stock L300 and L400 SWB and LWB made it through.

Saturday evening we will be camping at Wells lake and sunday popping out near Coalmont just north west of Princeton and coming back home from Princeton hwy 3.

All JDM's are welcome.

late snowfall = whipsaw will be good from July to Oct. July will be crazy busy and very muddy. August will be better. September we will most likely be 99% on our own like last time.

If you've ever been there in July/Aug, it's a parking lot on the main trail on the weekends.

Hi, is a stock Pajero able to do the trip?
If yes I would be really interested in joining you.
Thanks

Yes !

If you have side steps, I would suggest to remove them before the trip otherwise they may get a little banged up.

On the whipsaw, 99% of the trail can be done in the summer by a good stock 4x4 vehicle with all terrain tires. There may be one or two places that you may need a small pull or some slow maneuvering to get around/over an obstacle.

Along side the main trail, there are many little 'challenge' obstacles that modified 4x4's can attempt, some successful, some not.

Pajero's have 31" tires stock and good articulation in the rear with a good wheelbase. It is a great vehicle to take on the whipsaw.

Oh, this just might work...

Take my daughter to the Taylor Swift concert on the 10th, and then climb the Whipsaw on the Sunday. :o That way, we BOTH get something from the weekend!

That's pretty good Jesse, I have no idea what my brothers are doing next week... wish I knew what they'll be doing in 3 months! 8-)

I guess a second "Official Delica Recovery Vehicle" wouldn't hurt... :-D Seeya then.
