I'll scout the location on my way home from work today , I have noticed that the signage has changed and most signs
now say Elk Lake /Beaver Lake Park. I think we are shooting for the entrance on Elk Lake Drive. I'll see what shelters are accessable as the weather is iffy and post this afternoon.

Cheers

Excellent idea Rik! Looking forward to meeting our deli friends old and new!

When coming from Swartz Bay, go past Elk Lake (the big lake you can see from the highway), take a right at the next light, the entrance to Beaver Lake Park is on the right a little ways up. If anyone has some Mitsumaples to mark the way, that would be great!

Checked out Elk/Beaver lake park ... the picnic shelters are not available , they have been reserved for another group , but the current forecast is for :-D :-D SUN :-D :-D so The main entrance on Elk lake Drive drive straight thru to the main paved parking lot and I'll be there on the righthand side at 10:45 if some one else can come a bit early too then we can stretch some caution tape between 2 vans to reserve some parking on the grassy/ water side . We can probably shift some tables around to picnic next to our tin mules of desire. 8-) .

Don't forget one set of shiny mirror bars for the deli from furthest away

Ya there is a good scattering of trees , if you guys can bring an emergency tarp would be cool. I'll throw my portable bbq in the van.

How did it go? Wish I could've been there, but ran into some issues with some mouth breathers and E coded headlights.

Ya, I thought you were coming, but you never did show...

Three vans, and then a fourth (Eric & Upma) showed up for the last 45 minutes. Small showing, but we had a good time chatting, catching up, and throwing the frisbee/stick/larger-stick/maybe-even-a-rock-or-two for Zoe.

Next Victoria gathering is going to be a coffee-shop one. Watch the forum for further details.

All the important people and dogs were there!

Thanks Rik for the mirror bars, not that we'll ever compete with you and Paul for bling, but we're getting closer now!

Good time, and Tundra slept like a baby....See ya'll again soon..... 8-) :M

Hi there, it was nice to meet you guys in person after reading the forums for a while!
I definitely learned a bunch of things and probably have more questions later...
The whole mirror bars gave me a good idea: I'm going to build some custom bars that move the mirrors further out so that I can get rid of the stupid add-on ones for towing (I can't see anything behind with an 8' wide boat in tow...) Anyone else done that?

Anyways, I will be looking forward to doing this again.

I know I know, my van didn't "pass" inspection due to the shop not seeing "DOT" on the lens, it was affordable auto, about a block or two from your place. Anyhow, I wish I could've made it : (.

There's a red flag for ya! - any oufit doing anything that calls themselves "Affordable" scares me... More like "Avoidable!!" :-P

Sorry I missed it too - so good cycling around there for the dogs too!

Apologize for being off-topic but for what it's worth I had my Delica inspected by Affordable Auto and was happy with their service. It was apparant they had done a thorough inspection and, as compared to the 4 other inspection places I got price quotes from, they were the most "Affordable".

OK, I humbly apologize for my flippant remark - I meant no stain on the mechanics of Affordable... It's just that I am really leery of buying something that is advertised as cheap - I'd rather pay more to someone who is proud to say he costs more and has earned the right to do it by putting quality over low cost. That's how I run my service business anyway.
Peace and good business to the mechanics at Affordable!

What kind of lights did you have Blackberry? were they retrofitted DOT or DEPO E codes? Affordable had come from the angle that they had never seen nor heard of E Coded lighting being admissable and instead of pursuing the answer themselves after I had offered numerous resources they could check (which I thought odd since it pertained to their business) I had to call Brian Kangas, confirm that E codes were acceptable, send photos of my van to the facility's email and have them call Brian to get "the word from the top". It's not whether or not they were thorough in their inspection, and I am not calling their character into question... it's the fact that this issue was approached with complete and total apathy.

They're DEPO E codes:

I hope they apologized at least (and recompensed you for your troubles!) upon being "helped" with doing their job properly. Either they were asleep at the wheel when they inspected mine and missed it (thankfully) or you had a different inspector who isn't up on the rules. When they inspected my van they knew the diff. between a neutral and clutch safety switch and that one is required and the other isn't. That was more than the 4 other places I asked did (they were all going to fail it for not having a clutch safety switch).
