I Have a 1991 JDM spec Pajero which translates into a 1992 U.S. spec Montero.
I have the 4d56T Diesel engine, but need to know if the CV axles from the gasoline Montero will fit the Pajero.
Anyone? Anyone?

Excellent info gathering and even more excellent that you shared. As a rule, the 4d56 platform shared with the 3.0 v6 and the 4m40 2800 shared with the 3.5L v6 when it came to anything not directly engine related. All I can quote you is the numbers, which say it's a match as long as you buy for the right truck (as was posted above, add a year on to the North American part when you ask for it - 91 Paj is 92 Montero, etc).
I've done gen 1s and other mitsus so i can give you a few pointers, snice they're very similar... In terms of the install, it's not the end of the world, but it does require a few things moved out of the way. You'll have to pull the brakes (can be left connected to lines), hub flanges (snap-ring pliers help immensely), and then get the knuckle out of the way too. This means separating ballpoints, so you'll need a separator. Finally you can access the cv axles. Slide hammer is really helpful here.
If you've downloaded a copy of the factory service manual, this is well documented for you. I can provide a link if you don't have it...

Hey Phil, thanks for quick reply, part numbers match, 91, 2.5 Japanese V44 to 3.0 Montero so I am going to order from Lordco, about 60% of the cost from the speciality dealers... Have a pickle fork to separate the knuckle/ball joints and what is that saying. " the lord hates a coward" so I guess we will see just how difficult it can be..lol

The pickle fork may damage the grease boot on the ball joints. One of the less evasive separation methods is to hit the knuckle itself with a small sledge or heavy ballpean hammer. The shock usually releases the tapered joint faster than the fork method and the hammer method won't damage the grease boot.
