Mighty Max / Strada loading

Post by nxski »

I'm assuming that since the Mighty Max and L300 have the same drivetrain they are also both 3/4 ton vehicles!?
I'm wondering what the repercussions I can expect from loading it regularly with up to 2000lbs worth of garbage might be?
Thanks

I'm thinking you might get a better response in the 'other vehicles' section rather than the 'other vehicles for sale' section. :M

Weird, on my iPhone there is no distinction between the two. It's as if there are 2 'other vehicles' sections. Unfortunately it's telling me that the correct sub-forum is no longer available so Strada will have to do. :-D

Just remember that your van has got at least 500 lbs of seats and carpet and interior paneling and extra glass (Crystal Light models) and an extra A/C condenser and piping etc, etc, etc.

That being said, the vans are quite rugged. I would keep an eye on your suspension components and your tire (especially) for signs of noticeable wear, depending on how often "regularly" is.

Thanks for the reply, sorry, I might not have been clear, this is for my Mighty Max, I definitely don't put that much weight in my van regularily (only when I drive 7 bodies with gear around for camping etc :-D I've been loading my truck up with garbage for the dump about 3 times a day during the week and have noticed that the ride seem to be a lot bouncier than I remember when I got it.

"Bouncier" could mean your shocks are no longer functioning and it's all spring action now.

The mighty max frame is good for a ton so you're safe with weight. May need to throw in an extra leaf if the rear is sagging though.

Stopping is slower but manageable and it does sag but not as much as I would have thought. The rear leads look like they have reverse camber though :-D If I was keeping it very long I would definitely add a leaf.

If you haven't already, pull off the drums and check the shoes to see if contact is being made so you know the rear drums are playing a tune.

In terms of stopping you mean? I haven't done that yet but I can't be a backyard mechanic on my work truck (as I'm not the owner, just the principal driver)
