Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Speedometer cable route, things along the way

Just replaced my frayed speedometer cable (think this also fixed odometer turned a 0.0001 on 600m test drive, yay) and found a few things.

What is this? I can’t quite get the replacement speedo cable in the exact same position and it’s rubbing at the lower bolt. Tempting to remove if it’s got to do with my AC which fell apart years ago (while in motion).

I was splicing some broken wires (to my 4wd sensor) and realized the black wire needs to be spliced on the other side of this yellow barrel. Through the yellow barrel the black wire connects to a red wire. If I splice this, omitting the yellow barrel - any problem? I wondered if it’s a fuse ...
